My stomach twists as I scan the crowd, looking for our bodyguards. Among the crowd, I spot Annie. I sigh in relief. We'll be okay..
I  glare at the Toby. "Move please.." I try to push for past him and he grabs my arm.
Marcus's eyes widen as Annie goes to get a teacher. Hopefully she can find someone soon...we're going to need it.
Marcus turns to Jack. "I'm tired of your bullshit.  Enough."
Jack smiles. "You made your choice."
Marcus moves closer, looking him in the eyes. "Jack, please just stop." Jack shakes his head and swings at him.
I gasp and try to move closer. "Leave him alone."
Tony tightens his grip on my arms. "You're staying right here."
I struggle against Toby as Marcus staggers backward, stopping against the locker behind him. Before he can even move, Jacks's on him again, punching him again and again
"Jack, stop! Please!"
He ignores me, landing a punch at Marcus's gut.
Marcus winces and slides to the ground, blood streaming out of his nose. My heartbeat quickens as I wait for Marcus to get up.
But he doesn't and Jack keeps going with the hits...
I struggle against Toby. "Let me go help him! This is too far.."
Toby shakes his head. "I can't do that."
"After all that happened, you can't just let it be?" I glance at Marcus, who's getting pummeled by punches. "He isn't even fighting back, let it be!"
Toby pauses, meeting my eyes. "You chose this..."
"You're still going to use that as your defense! This is insane!"
He smirks. "As long as you continue to not have any plans to stay quiet, we will do this."
"You can get in big trouble for this."
He laughs. "Wh0 will help you? Look at them."
I glance towards the crowd, hoping someone will help us. But all I see is faces eagerly taking the fight in, recording and laughing, high-fiving their friends as Jack lands another hit.
I've never felt so alone....just about everyone's truly turned against us...and we can't do anything to change that.
I glance at Marcus and he forces a smile as he meets my eyes. But the smile fades as Jack lands another blow to the gut.
Toby glances at Peter. "Think this will change their mind?"
"It better...or we could make it get worse."
My eyes widen. Worse? Like this isn't bad enough? I don't think we can handle worse...But chances are, we'll have to one way or another.
I sigh in relief as Annie comes through the hall, our bodyguards and the Principal right behind her.
The principal meets my eyes... "This stops now." The crowd disperses, heading to class, chatter following them down the halls.
Our bodyguards quickly start to play damage control.
The male bodyguard pulls Jack off of Marcus. Jack glances at him. "Hand off."
The bodgurad ignores him, instead pushing him towards the office.
The female one glares at Toby, plying his arms off of me. He smirks at me as She escorts him and the others to the office.
I immediately get down to the floor where Marcus lays.
Now that everyone has left and I can get a clear view of him, I gasp. It's so much worse than I thought. His nose is like a red waterfall, and a little blood comes out of his mouth.
"Oh my God..."
He forces a smile. "I know, I'm too hot to handle."
I shake my head. "Well yes, but idiot why didn't try to dodge the hits?"
"It wouldn't have helped anything."
I sigh. As much as I wished it was different, he's right. When Jack and his little minions get determined like that, they only way to stop them is to get help. Which always takes too long.
"Well can you get up at least?"
He winces. "I'm fine bae."
"Yes, laying on the ground just screams fine."
"That's fair."
I extend my hand and he grabs it. I pull him up just as Annie comes over.
She pales as she sees his face. "What can I do?"
He smiles. "Go to class. We'll be fine."
"But..."
The principal comes up from behind us.
"They're right. Go to class."
I smile at Annie as she meets my eyes. "I'll text you when we get home. Thanks for getting help. "
"Okay. If you don't text, I will spam you."
I nod. "Deal."  I turn my attention to the principal.
She winces. "You two may go home."
Marcus forces a smile. "Thanks."
" Do you want to go to the nurse before you do?"
Marcus shakes his head. "I don't want to be here any longer than I have to."
The principal sighs and I glare at her.
"If you had stopped this, we wouldn't need to go home or to the nurse. You said you would do better."
She opens her mouth to reply and closes it.
"It's your job to protect us, to keep things like this from happening. But you haven't done it all. We continue to get hurt, and you continue to let it happen."
She sighs. "I know, and I'm sorry.
"Sorry doesn't cut it anymore."
She sighs. "I know. They will be punished."
"Isn't that what you said last time?"
Marcus and I watch her walk away to her office. He meets my eyes.  "You think anything will change?"
"I wish but probably not."
He sighs. "One can hope..."
"Well hope won't change anything." I bend down and pick up his books.
"I can carry them."
"You think I'll let you do that? Honestly?"
He pauses. "No I don't."
"Good because you would have been wrong. I'm also driving."
He meets my eyes. "Thanks, bae."
"You don't have to thank me."
"Just like you don't have to help me."
I nod. "But I want to. So now we're even."
He smiles, slipping his hand into mine. "I love you."
I grin, squeezing his hand back. "I love you too."
