"I can't wait to see Jerry!" Mindy smiled.
"I have homework, I need to go," I said on our walk home.
"You sure? Jerry's really nice!"
"Yeah, we've met." I definitely didn't want to talk about that.
"You really should be friends with him at least," Mindy said.
I rolled my eyes. Sure.
Homework almost seemed fun that afternoon.
---
"You won't believe what happened today," Mindy said as we all sat down to eat.
"What?" I took a bite of the mashed potatoes. It was honestly the first time I ate dinner with my foster family, and to be completely honest, I didn't hate it.
"Jerry asked me out!" Mindy said. Her eyes were sparkling.
I almost threw up, "He...what now?"
"Aw, it's okay. I promise I'll still hang out with you and be your friend. I'm just so excited. We're going on a date Friday night."
I literally met her yesterday and she was tearing my life apart.
"You just met him today!" Are you insane?!
"Yeah, that's okay, we'll work it out! But I'm really excited!"
I rolled my eyes and told myself I didn't care about Jerry.
I bet Liam was happy his friend didn't like me anymore.
