One month later...
The phone rang.
Mindy picked it up.
A few seconds later she began sobbing.
"Min?" I asked, walking up behind her. I suddenly had a clue what this call was about.
"He's in the hospital. Liam says I need to visit him before-"
I did something I hadn't done before.
I grabbed my cousin and hugged her.
Mindy was completely distraught by the time I had convinced my foster mom we'd be fine at the hospital by ourselves.
Liam met us there.
A lot had changed in the past few weeks. Had it been a month? I looked at a calendar nearby.
It was October.
When did time fly by so fast?
Liam and I weren't exactly on the best terms, but at least now we didn't hate each other. At least, I don't hate him. I almost couldn't even dislike him but I can't exactly speak for his feelings.
He definitely didn't treat me like his mortal enemy, though, that's for sure.
But even if he did, we had bigger problems.
The world was going to lose Jerry.
Jerry gave us a small grin when we walked in. Monitors beeped everywhere.
"Jerry!" Mindy ran over and hugged him, "Please don't leave me!"
Jerry looked surprised, "Leave you? Mindy I would never do that!"
Tears fell from Liam's face. I never thought I'd ever see a high school boy cry.
Especially Liam. Well, to be fair, I have seen him cry before, but...
I stepped just a little closer to him. He looked at me.
I whispered, "Maybe it's time to tell him the truth."
