I woke up to my foster parents in my room. I must have slept in because the sun was already super bright.

"Harmony, darling," my foster mother greeted me.

"Good morning," I said.

"We have good news and bad news," my foster mom said. "Which do you want first?"

My gut clenched. Liam.

"Oh, none of them have to do with your friend. Well, a little bit. But no worries. He's going to be hospitalized for about another week, but he'll be fine," she assured.

I drew in a deep breath. "Okay. I'll have the bad news first."

"The bad news is that your friend's father has been sent to jail. Life sentence. For attempted murder."

"That's called bad news? Mom, he caused so much trauma in my life."

My eyes widened. Had I just called my foster mother... Mom?

But both my foster parents smiled, "The good news...is that, since your biological parents will be in jail for another ten years, and by then, you'll be a legal adult...we've legalized your adoption!"

Tears filled my eyes. "I'm...getting...adopted?" Jumping out of bed, I hugged both of my foster--actually, now my parents.

"Yes!"

My life turned completely around.

My worst enemy had become my best friend. And, maybe, more than a friend.

My foster parents were now my parents.
Honestly, I had never really experienced joy in my life of fifteen years... Until now.

"We can go to the hospital now, to visit your friend, if you would like."

I pinched myself to make sure this wasn't a dream. It wasn't.

I couldn't stop smiling.
