I woke up later than I was used to. The sun peeked into my room from between my open curtains.

All was quiet.

I wondered if my dad was home. Chances are, he wasn't.

That was why I was so surprised to see him open my bedroom door a couple of minutes later. "Good morning, Liam!"

That startled me. I was honestly terrified. What in the world?!

"You're in a good mood today," I commented. Oh, why did I have to say that!? He's just going to get mad at me.

But he didn't. He sat on my bed next to me.

"I know I am. I discovered something," he said. He had a smile on his face. Not exactly a friendly smile, but not an evil one.

Too many surprises in less than twenty-four hours. First, Harmony is actually kind of a decent person. Then, my dad is actually not drunk this morning.

And today, I had actually smiled for the first time in a while. I wonder if it was because of-

Oh, please no.

Jerry has always been the type to fall for any decent-looking girl. I didn't understand him.

Me, on the other hand? I pushed everyone away. Everyone except Jerry.

What in the world happened last night?

My dad interrupted my thoughts. "You know Harmony?"

"What about her?" I said. Skarg, what if he could read my thoughts?

"I've found her," he said. His face was so close to my face I could smell his breath.

There was no smell of liquor on his breath.

Who is he and WHAT HAS HE DONE WITH MY FATHER?

I stammered, very aware I was blushing, "You--what?"

"I've found her. And do you know where I found her?" he leaned in closer. "Alvin High School," he said. Actually, more of a snarl. "And do you know what grade? Your grade. And what class? Your class."

I stopped blushing as terror filled me.

"I told you not to lie to me."

"I don't pay attention to my classmates or anything else," I lied.

Well, that was actually true up until recently. Until Harmony joined.

But he didn't have to know that.

"Well, now I have found her," he said. "And I'm going to take her. And do to her what I was planning to do all along. They will finally pay."

Fear gripped my heart.

No-no. NO!
