When this story idea first came to me, I wasn't sure what direction it was going to take. I've just been letting the characters tell the story for me. Now Raven has come along and turned this into a paranormal romance book. I knew Sang would tell her side of things as things progressed, but I never had the idea that someone else would be able to see her and interact. However, Raven can and does. The things he experienced back in his home country of Russia has allowed him the sight and when he walks into that hospital room, it isn't her body lying unconscious on the bed that he sees first, but her spirit floating near Kota. I hope that this story will still interest you guys once you read this update. Many of you probably had a certain view, or idea, of how this was going to pan out and this might not have been it. Hopefully it doesn't deter you from continuing on. I think it will still be a great read and will give you all the feels like it has in the past. Happy reading!
Raven's POV
We're packed into the SUV on the way to the hospital. Moye solntse (My sunshine) is stationed beside me in the backseat with me. Boss man hadn't given us much to go on when he told us about the other Boss man needing us for an assignment. I was just excited to get East mad. It was so easy to do. He blows up like a faucet.
I had tried to drive, but I'm glad Axel did, giving me time to cuddle up with moye solntse. We hadn't had much time together lately due to the constant missions and personal business. My time was taken away by the gun range, qualifying other Academy members and getting the newbies ready before their induction ceremonies. I'm hoping whatever the Blackbourne Boss man needs will allow for us to open up some free time, even if it is spent in a security capacity. It couldn't be too hard if it's at the hospital. We were heading toward the Academy one after all.
As soon as the thought hits, we pull into the parking lot. Axel pulls out his phone to get directions of where we need to meet.
"Hey Owen. We're here. Where do you want to meet?"
Whatever is said, has Axel nodding, then hanging up.
"Alright guys, we have a meeting room set up for us. Everyone, but Kota will be present."
"Where's Little Boss man at? Isn't he usually like a requirement for these things?" My tone is questioning. There has never been a time I haven't seen the little leader out of a meeting.
"I didn't ask, Raven. I'm sure he had to be somewhere important. Now come one, they are waiting for us. Whatever is going on is stressing them out and I don't want to add to that."
Without further questioning, we exit the vehicle and make our way in. Many of the nurses give us a wide berth. We aren't exactly known for our chivalrous attitudes within the hospital. The many times we've been admitted, only Doc Sean and Roberts would attend to us. Only they could handle the rowdy language and demands to be released before they recommended.
I especially had a problem with hospitals. There was just something about them that sent shivers down my spine. Though the Academy hospital didn't deal with many deaths, past experiences had me leery of being inside them. Spirits had a way of seeking those with the sight out and begging for your help.
We walked by a room and a chill made its way across my skin. I knew what that meant, but I kept my focus ahead, unwilling to let whoever it was know I felt their presence. Once we were within the meeting room, my shoulders released their tension and I calmed a bit. I'd have to be on guard while here, but for now it seemed as though the spirit didn't know someone within the vicinity could help them. It just needed to stay that way.
The Blackbourne team was spread out within the chairs positioned around the large table. They looked tired and worn out, making my interest peak about what this could all be about. Their leader didn't seem inclined to drag this out.
