Kevin sat on the steps near the back of the school, tapping his feet in anticipation.
He couldn't believe he was doing this.
He'd managed to squeeze enough information out of the girls in his class to figure out where he could catch the ever-so-famous Jacob Bae walking by, and thus here he sat waiting. He would be lying if he said he hadn't been debating whether to do this or not all day.
At lunch, despite the presence of Eric's friends, he'd kept rather quietly to himself, scrolling through the Instagram profile which some of his classmates had kindly directed him to.
Despite the copious amount of pictures of pretty girls done up in makeup, Kevin couldn't help but notice two things:
A. There wasn't a single boy on the page that Kevin had seen.
B. He still had no idea what this Jacob guy even looked like.
Doubt began to creep into his mind as the minutes passed by. Maybe he was waiting in the wrong place? How would he even know who to stop?
A couple male students had passed through the area in the last few minutes, and Kevin began to stress that maybe it was one of them, and he'd missed it.
The sound of laughing grabbed his attention, and soon a group of people walked into the area.
The cute pigtailed girl from his class clung to the arm of a taller boy, speaking animatedly to him about some topic.
"Yuqi, text me the rest when you get home, yeah? I have to finish some stuff here," the boy's soft voice came in response, immediately drawing Kevin's gaze towards him.
He couldn't find the words to describe him. Something within Kevin's mind told him he was watching a real angel on earth; with the boy's soft features only highlighted by the gentle upturn of his lips in a smile.
The group of girls all gave a wave or goodbye of some sort, before hurrying back down the hallway together. He figured they must be one of the main cliques.
The boy now stood at his locker, the same passive smile remaining on his face as his sorted through his books in search of one.
Kevin's body acted before his mind, and next thing he knew he'd gotten up and wandered over towards the unsuspecting boy.
He stood right behind him, as if waiting for the elder to finish whatever he was doing.
"You're Jacob?" Kevin asked timidly, before the other could even turn around.
The boy paused, letting a silent moment pass before looking behind him.
"Yeah?" the elder replied, his eyes meeting Kevin's for the first time.
Kevin didn't know why he suddenly found it extra hard to speak.
Jacob turned around to face his body towards the newcomer, accompanied by a questioning look."...Could you do my makeup?" Kevin asked before he could stop himself.
Jacob stared at him for a moment. He looked Kevin up and down, as if hesitant to say something.
Fuck, he probably already thinks I'm weird.
Kevin's brain was screaming at him to get out of the situation, yet he stood still."Really?" Jacob asked as he saw Kevin's nervous expression.
"Um. Yeah?"
A small smile broke out across Jacob's face. "Oh, I'm sorry, cutie!" he immediately apologized, the tension gone.
"It's just that guys never ask me, I thought it might be a joke or something."
