Michael's POV

I pick up the red marker and cross of yesterday on my calendar before I stretch and accidentally throw it half way across the room.

I groan as I sit up on my bed, feeling the cold air hit my half naked body.

I finally get up and make my way over to the marker. I make it halfway before a black figure jumps out from under my bed and attacks my ankle.

I scream and try to kick the creature off of my foot. The black mass flies into the air after a few kicks and lands with a squeak at the other end of my room.

"Aww I'm sorry Shadow! You scared me buddy." I say, running over to my cat and laying down on my belly to be face to face with the kitten.

He looks up into my eyes and smirks at me with his cute little face.

Wait.......Did my cat just smirk at me?

Before I could comprehend what ball of fuzz had just done, he was up and running towards the red marker.

"Oh no, not again Shadow." I groan as I run after the black kitten who now has possession of my only good marker.

I chased him up and down the stairs, around the couch, under the table, and eventually got him into the bathroom. I closed the door and trapped the little thief and I inside.

"Now....Shadow, I'm going.....to have to ask......you to give me.....that back now...." I say between my gasps for air.

The little bastard just looked at me and smirked at me again. How does he do that? I mean he's a cat not a person!

I slowly walk towards where he was pushed up against the wall and lunge at him.

I finally caught the little shit and ripped the marker from his jaws.

"Finally! You're a stubborn little bastard, you know that right?" I ask him hypothetically.

He shrugs and walks out of the now open bathroom door.

Ok maybe I should eat something.

I shake at the thought that my cat is half human and walk downstairs to the kitchen.

I walk into the coffee shop, grab my apron off its hook, and put it on. I sigh at the number of people in the café and get to work preparing their drinks.

After about 3 hours of work I finally decide to take my 15 minute break outside.

It was a warm, summer night and there was a slight breeze blowing through the air. I close my eyes and lean up against the cool brick wall out back of the café, enjoying the quiet.

"Hey handsome." I hear a voice call to me from the entrance of the ally.

I open my eyes and look over to see my giraffe of a friend.

"Shut up Luke, you're disturbing my break." I say closing my eyes once again.

I can hear his footsteps as he walks closer to me.

I groan and open my eyes to see he wasn't alone. He was standing in front of me, holding hands with Zoë.

I look down at their hands before I look up to Luke with anger.

"What are you doing with her mate?" I ask in a harsh tone.

"Woah dude, relax. We were just having some coffee while discussing The Hunger Games." Luke explains.

I wasn't buying it. I look down to their hands again and look up to Zoë this time.

"Michael, seriously chill. No need to get jealous because I'm holding this little button's hand." She says booping Luke's nose once, making him giggle.
