Percy
I was in the middle of a great nap when Mrs. Dodds smacked her ruler on my desk, which I thought was a bit of an overreaction, but I didn't dare say so.
"Mr.Jackson, this is the second time you've been asleep in my class. The next time it happens you'll be getting detention. Do you understand me?"
"There won't be a next time Mrs. Dodds" I smiled sleepily, hoping she would drop it. Who's idea was it to make teenagers start school at 7:30 in the morning? That's an ungodly hour. And besides, I had been up late doing homework for another class, it's not like I was playing video games or anything... Okay maybe I was up late doing homework because I played video games all afternoon. The point is... 7:30 is too early to ask me to do math, Mrs. Dodds is just setting herself up for failure.
She nodded before turning back to the lesson plan, eventually everyone stopped looking at me. Another reason this class was one I was prone to sleep in was because I had no friends in it. Not good ones anyway. All my other classes I had a comrade, someone who ventured through academic torture with me, but not this one. I stared at the clock hoping to make it move quicker, I had a banana in my locker and I was starving. And I had to talk to Grover about our science project. This class lasted way too long.
Still, I had to get my priorities in order. I couldn't get in trouble with Mrs. Dodds, My stepdad had already bailed me out one too many times.
As for my study habits... maybe I could get Annabeth to help me with time management.

When the bell finally rung I was gone, earphones already in, making a beeline for my locker. God I was hungry. I high fived some swim team friends on the way, but didn't stay to chat. Grover was already at my locker when I got there, his first class let out closer to my locker than to his, so sometimes we shared.
"G man! I finished my part of the project." He looked annoyed when I said it.
"Yeah, you finished it at the very last possible second, with no respect for my anxiety. Now we only have lunch to practice the presentation." He told me and I rolled my eyes silently.
"Dude, I always come through. Besides, we don't really have to practice, we just have to go through some talking points. Why are you so nervous?" I had a feeling he was anxious to present in that class because a certain tree hugging brunette was in it...
He looked at me. "You know why. And shut up."
I laughed and finished my snack. "See you at lunch, man."
I had three class periods before lunch, and three after. Sixth period was my study hall.
"Bye, Percy." He grumbled
I turned back and said "Relax" motioning my hand into a wave like gesture. He only rolled his eyes.
Grover and I had been best friends for three years, pretty much all of high school. Which felt like a long time, but it was nothing compared to the ten years I had been friends with Annabeth. When you meet someone in kindergarten who's dyslexic like you-- you stick together, and we had ever since. We did everything together, homework, chores, vacations, all of it. It helped that our parents were friends, and that our younger siblings hung out all the time. Our families were close, so we were too.
I usually got to history early, so I could exchange homework with Annabeth, but we didn't have any due today.
Annabeth pulled my earphones out when I sat down next to her,
"Ow! Can you not do that please? I hate it when you do that." I grumbled and started to put them back in.
"Percy we're about to have a pop quiz!"She looked at me intensely, which is pretty easy when you have startling grey eyes.
