Annabeth

I didn't have very many friends in AP Bio. I used to have Luke in my science classes, since I was a year ahead in this subject. The seniors in my class were nice though, I usually sat with Silena and Charlie.

Today, Will sat with us too. He seemed to be popping up everywhere lately.

I usually completed our in-class work early, and then used the lab for my research project. My AP Bio teacher was the faculty advisor for the state science fair, she had recommended me and submitted my work. She was just as excited as my dad was when we found out I had been chosen, but neither of them were a match for how happy Percy had been for me. He shouted and hugged me and posted it all over his social media. I smiled at the memory.

Still though, it was a lot of pressure, and I didn't want to let anyone down.

I had so much to do and way too many things on my plate.

Really, I needed to stop distracting myself. Thinking about Percy was making it so hard to focus. We're just friends, nothing happened.

With this mantra in mind I began making headway on my research. I got through two objectives before Will interrupted, apparently that was becoming a habit of his.

"Hey Annabeth! What's all this?" He said cheerfully, gesturing to the sprawl of science research on the lab table. I was a pretty organized person, but when it came to my passion projects, I could get messy.

"I'm participating in the state science fair, I have preliminary research to do before the first check point." I explained to him.

"Cool stuff, hey if you're not too busy could I ask you about Percy's party?"

Geez, so much for not thinking about him.

I put my pencil behind my ear and looked at him "Yeah, whats up?"

"It's next week, right?" He asked.

"Friday night yeah, starting at 9." I responded.

"At Piper's place?"

"Yep."

Percy said he invited the whole swim team a few days ago, said he put the info in their team groupchat...

"And, uh.." Will glanced around "Who's all going to be there?"

"Well it's Percy's birthday so probably all your swim team friends"

"Anyone else?" He pressed, his voice almost a whisper. I realized he wanted to know if someone specific was going, but I had no guess as to who it was.

"Me, Grover, Percy's cousin and her friends, Hazel and Nico-"

"Awesome!" He jolted upright. "Thanks for letting me know! I'll leave you to your research." He laughed nervously and went back to his own seat.

That was weird.

If I didn't have so much to do I might have investigated why Will was acting so strange. Whatever, it would have to wait. If I didn't get something off my checklist completed I was seriously going to lose it.

"Hey" I said to Percy when I met him at his locker.

He grinned at me "Ready for Lit.? It's gonna be lit" He said, repeating a joke we had been telling since freshman year. I rolled my eyes. As stressed as I was about everything, it still felt good for some things to stay the same. Like Percy and bad puns.

"You're a comedic genius" I said sarcastically as we began walking to class.

Percy kept looking over at me.
