Chapter 17

Percy

When I walked into Piper's Rachel snapped a photo of me.

"I did not consent to that!"I joked. "Besides, I thought you didn't use digital cameras." I said, grabbing a piece of pizza.

"I'm experimenting, I think I'm going to go digital." Rachel responded.

Everyone was hanging out in the kitchen, eating and relaxing. When Annabeth took a piece of pizza she nudged me with her elbowed and held her hand out. She usually put her hair up before she ate, I gave her the hair tie on my wrist.

Grover and Piper were talking about Green Team, telling us the gossip that went down at their meeting. I saw Annabeth grab Leo, but I didn't know what they could possibly have the need to talk about away from the group.

We were chatting about different things, but I had an important question.

"Hey Reyna, who's your date with tonight?" I asked casually. Her nostrils flared and she turned towards Rachel.

"You told?!"

Rachel went wide eyed "I didn't, I swear!" Reyna just scowled in response.

Hazel looked up at me "You're such a trouble maker." she told me. Hazel was like the world's most adorable little sister, too pure for this world.

"Really, Rachel didn't say anything." Hazel told Reyna.

"Yeah, I'm just a smart guy." I said jokingly. "So really, who's the lucky dude?" I asked.

Piper changed the subject super quickly, it made me wonder what the big deal was.

"We need to talk about the guest list." Piper said, handing me a soda.

Annabeth and Leo rejoined everyone in the kitchen. "You know, you should post on a private story, that way only people we like have the address." Leo said.

Annabeth shoved him "Don't act like that was your idea!" she laughed.

"I just said that." Annabeth told us.

"That's really smart." Rachel said. Piper and Hazel nodded in agreement.

"Alright, who's got the playlist made?" I asked.

Piper pulled out her phone "It's in the works," she connected to the bluetooth speakers that ran all throughout the house, and started playing music "and it's public so anyone can add to it." She said.

Will knocked on the door, I knew it was him because the rest of us stopped knocking ages ago.

"Come in!" Piper called.

He walked in and closed the door politely behind him.

"You're just in time," Nico said "we're deciding how to numb ourselves from our brainless teenage existence."

Against all odds, Will smiled "That's my favorite hobby." He said to Nico.

Nico looked startled. I always knew Will as this laid back, positive dude, to watch him have existential humor in common with Nico was... new.

"He means we're talking about Percy's party next weekend." Frank clarified.

Will settled right in, leaning on the bar. "You guys know Travis was talking about bringing a keg, right?"

Leo laughed "Yes! Score!""

"Oh so it's gonna be a real party then!" Rachel said.

The rest of us looked confused, I guess we were the innocent ones. Is this how Hazel felt all the time?
