Sudden Change

Chapter 1

Courtney POV

I'm picking up Zayne from his school.

He came to me running as he spot where I am. He's holding a paper on his hand smiling widely.

"How was your day young man." I ask as I get his backpack and put it at the backseat.

"Woah! You're early mom, it was great mom! I got A+!" He proudly said showing the paper. "Ms. Amy said I'm good at drawing."

"Cause you are baby, look at this, this is great. Once we got home, we will stick it on the refrigerator."

"So I can show it to grandpa and grandma when they visit us!"

I am happy to see him this energetic.

"What about we celebrate this?"

"Really mom!" He said enthusiastically.

"Well, of course, your mother just got her salary so we can eat whatever you want. What you want to eat?"

"PIZZAAAA!!"

"Okay baby, hop in." I said as I open the car.

We went at the pizza place that nearest in our home.
We were waiting for our order, he was telling me what happened earlier.

"So Alvin said that his dad and him played basketball every afternoon. Then Ken said him and his dad swim the other day......"

I couldn't understand what he's saying at the end.

He really want to have a dad.

"Mom, you're not listening." I saw him pouting.

I smile at him and put him on my lap.

"I am, so what did you say to them?"

His face lights up and my heart melts hearing what he said.

"I told them that I have a best mom in the world! That we played together, I also told them when we went to the beach with grandpa and grandma. I told them how awesome you are, and they say they wanted to meet you." He said happily but his mood suddenly change and I saw him looking behind me.

"Hello Zayne."

I immediately turn my head and I saw Wahlid, my boss standing there.

"You are not allowed to call me that, only mom can call me that." Zayne seriously said.

He doesn't want to be called by other people with his first name, even mom and dad. He prefers to be called Cullum.

I was about to put him back on his seat but he didn't want to.

"I'm sorry Mr. Mohammad, Good evening Sir."

"Drop the formality, we're outside the company. You can call me by my first name, just like when we were in high school Courtney."

"Mom, I hate him." Zayne whispered to my ear. I lightly tapped his thigh to make him stop.

Just in time our order finally arrived.

He took a glance with Wahlid before facing the table still seating on my lap.

"Mind if I join the both of you?"

"Yeah, sure." I said when I sense that Zayne was going to protest.

I also need to talk to him anyways.

"Don't get near with my mom." Zayne sternly said when Wahlid was about to sit beside me.

"Your son always not in the mood whenever I'm around."
