Shayne POV
"Stop pouting there, come on and say bye to grandma and grandpa." I said to Zayne as I lift him up to carry him and walk towards the car and Courtney is behind us holding a small bag with foods inside it.
Zayne hug my neck and mumbled
"Can't they just stay here?"
"They would, if they could. But they have lives in Utah, we can't force them to stay here."
He sighed deeply.
I stopped walking, and Courtney grab the handle of the bag I'm holding and put it inside the car.
Courtney's parents and her are talking so I turn back my attention to Zayne.
"Hey, don't be sad. They will visit you again."
"I need to wait again?"
I can clearly see the sadness in his eyes.
How am I supposed to answer him?
I look at Courtney and she is looking at us, I think she heard what Zayne said.
I put him down and kneeled on my knee to even the level of our eyes.
"Yes, but don't you think it is kinda fun and exciting?" He didn't say anything. I hold both of his hands "They told that they would be here again, didn't they?" He nod. "And the exciting part there is when they will be here just like what they told you." I saw him smile and I did the same, I tap the tip of his nose with my finger. "You're waiting because you know someone will come and you know that it's worth the wait." I said then raffle his hair.
My eyes catches Courtney's.
I'm also waiting for your mom,
And I will wait for her no matter what.
"And beside, I'm here and your mom, you have us. We will wait for them to come."
I heard him giggling and he catches my hand.
"Now go and say a proper goodbye with them." And this time, Zayne nod with a smile on his face.
"Granpaaa, grandmaa~~" He said and quickly went towards them.
Just a moment after, Courtney went on my side. We are facing his parents and Zayne as they talk.
"I guess, this will be the first time Zayne won't cry when mom and dad leave."
When I look at Courtney, her eyes glazed.
Did I do something wrong?
"Is that a bad thing? H-hey, I'm s-sorry, I d-didn--"
My worry fade when I heard her small laugh, she wiped the tears that tried to escape her eyes.
"You don't have to apologise, It's a good thing. I just remembered that whenever my parents are leaving, Zayne will immediately cry and at first, We/ I had a hard time on what I supposed to do. He is attached to them, especially with dad, because he's the only man in our house back then." She look at me with a smile on her lips. "And I'm happy that I can see changes with Zayne because of you." She turn her attention towards us.
"I just got emotional because it seems like he started grow faster and I know one day, probably he wouldn't need me anym---"
I put an arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer.
"Don't say things like that, that will never happen. I'm hundred percent sure that he will still make you sing lullaby to him even in his twenties. And when he have his own family, I know that he still need you, you are his strength."
She tap my thigh.
"He's just six and you already thinking about him having his own family."
"That will definitely going to happen, I mean, just look at our son. And you starte---"
And I received a slap on my thigh again.
