Ira

It was now 5:34 and Kostas has dropped me off at my house like he said he would, but he didn't want me to go inside alone. Great. Now we were sitting in my living room across from my dad who looked angry about me bringing an older guy home with me. He was only older by 3 years, nothing major!

Why did I want to come back early anyways? Oh yeah, dinner. Why did I want my new boyfriend to be there? Oh yeah, suspicious if my dad.

"So, your name is Kostas Malone?" Dad asked.

"Yes, sir, it is," Kostas said nervously. So guys really do get nervous when they meet a girl's parents.

"What is that? Russian?"

"Ah, no, sir...it's Latin, or else Greek, which ever you prefer," he said. "In Latin it means constant and in Greek it means steady, so really any one is good."

Dad huffed. "Well, do you know what Ira mean?"

Kostas looked at me and then slowly shook his head.

"We named her after the retirement company since all of you kids are going to run the banks dry so that you won't be able to afford retirement."

I slapped my forehead. While Kostas started to chuckle. He then looked at me.

"Is that true?" he asked, still laughing.

"No, it is not," I emphasized, glaring at dad. "Mom made it up and it turns out that there was a company named the IRA and it has a Latin meaning which is wrath."

"And boy does it fit her, you don't want to see her when she's mad," dad chuckled too.

"Jee, thanks dad."

I glanced at the clock. Quarter to 6, I'd better go get dressed. It was just a casual dinner, but at a fancy, high priced dining restaurant, so I thought I should look somewhat good.

"Well, I'd better go get dressed," I said, slapping my knees and standing up.

Kostas and dad quickly followed.

"Yeah, I um, I guess I should, get going then," Kostas stuttered.

My heart stopped. He was leaving? Of course he was leaving. He had to leave so that he could meet us at the restaurant and keep an eye on me, at least that's how the plan was supposed to unfold. I nodded and then showed him to the door. Dad stayed in the living room, which meant that as soon as Kostas was out the door, he quickly turned around and planted one on me, and I returned his kiss.

"See you there," he whispered before jogging to his truck.

The car drove down the road smoothly as we drove over to the next town. When I learned that we were going to a different town, I texted Kostas to let him know. I was driving, dad was in the passenger, and Cristy couldn't stop fidgeting in the back seat. I knew why too; she didn't like being away from Caleb, and I didn't like to be away from Kostas. It must be this weird mate thing.

"Take the next left," dad said.

I turned and we were on a dirt road. I then realized that we were no where near the town dad said. We were in middle of no where, surrounded by trees and in the distance was mountains. My mind wandered so much that I didn't even realize where the hell we were going!

"Dad," I questioned, "where are we?"

"You'll see," he said.

I passed the speed limit sign and it said to do 65. On a dirt road? That seems a little off, but oh well. I started to speed up and then the landscape started to change and we were going downhill. I admired the dark sky with a pale amount of light on the horizon, but it was interrupted by a loud sigh from my dad.
