LISA'S POV
I fluttered my eyes open as I felt the sun hitting my face. I had a hard time falling asleep like usual so my throbbing head was no surprise to me. I grabbed my phone by the bedside table to check the time, only to be confused by the numbers on the screen. It was seven in the morning, two hours later than my usual time getting up. I must've been more exhausted than I seemed.
After pushing myself off the bed, I stretched for a bit and headed to the bathroom to wash up. Luckily, today was a Saturday and we didn't have Saturday classes this semester. As I headed downstairs, I noticed the chicken and the chipmunk still sleeping soundly on the couch. I went straight to the kitchen for a bottle of water and some medicine for my headache. After gulping down the pills, I started cleaning up our mess as quietly as I could, trying not to wake the two, though I doubt they would seeing how deep in sleep they both were. I brought the dirty dishes to the sink and washed them.
"Good morni"—
I jumped in surprise, almost losing my grip on the plate in my hand, as I heard Jennie speak.
"Sorry if I scared you." She suppressed a giggle. "I'm surprised you're up already, " she added as she grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge.
I put the plate on the rack and turned to her. "Good morning. Yeah, I usually wake up at five. But I slept in a bit this morning," I said as I wiped my hands on the dish towel. "Are you hungry?"
She nodded as she took a long swig of water.
"We could grab a bite while the two sleep off the hangover and we could bring some take away for them as well," I suggested.
Her eyes lit up at the prospect of food and she answered, "Sure. What do you have in mind?"
"I've been wanting to try the café down the road."
"Okay. Let me just grab my wallet." She turned to leave but I held her wrist to stop her.
"No need, it's on me." I smiled at her and grabbed my keys and wallet from the counter. We exited the loft and I led her towards the parking area where my car was. Once we were both settled in, I started the car and drove.
The moment we arrived, I saw her amazement as her eyes travelled along the aesthetics of the café. It looked like a greenhouse with its steel frames and glass-covered walls and roof and had a lot of potted plants both inside and outside the establishment. The chairs and tables looked like garden furniture as well. I guided her inside, holding the door for her. When we entered, I smiled as I saw all the colorful flowers. I looked over to her just to see her sporting the same smile on her face. We chose a table at the back. As she was taking pictures of our surroundings, a waiter approached us with the menu.
"Good morning and welcome to The Greenhouse. My name is Minjun. I'll return in a moment to get your orders," the waiter said with a polite smile as he gave us the menus.
While she was scanning the menu, I couldn't help but keep my eyes on her. Every crevice of her face and every inch of her skin was magnificent. She looked as ethereal as the first time I saw her even in the plain black loose shirt I lent her. For some reason, she wore it better than I did and I wasn't complaining. Her hair was slightly wavy, and her face glowed even without makeup on.
She must have sensed me staring because she suddenly stiffened and looked up from the menu. Our eyes met and I felt my heart pounding through my chest. Her beautiful cat-like eyes were staring right back with such intensity but at the same time, she looked confused. I wondered if she knew how beautiful she was and how expressive her eyes were.
There was something about her that kept drawing me in. I convinced myself it wouldn't be good to forge deep relationships while I'm here but I just couldn't shake this feeling whenever she was around. I could sense she felt the same way. I felt safe when I looked her in the eyes, but I didn't know why. She kept trying to figure me out and that should scare me but oddly, it didn't. I knew I should cower away but a part of me didn't want to. Our gaze stayed locked on to each other's until we heard someone speak beside me.
