JENNIE'S POV

I couldn't sleep.

I spent the whole night staring at my ceiling trying to make sense of what happened with Lisa. Everything was going smoothly, so her sudden change in mood really caught me off guard. I didn't know if it was something I did. I kept replaying the events in my head but I couldn't think of anything I might have done wrong. It was more than humiliating having my first ever kiss being blatantly rejected. And the worst part of it all was that the moment our faces were merely inches apart, I finally realized that I liked her. It occurred to me that I already saw her as someone I could someday be in a relationship with, that the feelings I had for her were more than just simple admiration or friendship.

I didn't know how much time had passed, but soon I started to notice the sunlight slowly seeping through the gap in the curtains. I've officially been up all night. I dreaded going about my day without sleep and overthinking the situation with Lisa. I hoped it wouldn't be too awkward.

I rubbed my face with my hands and pushed myself off of the bed. I needed a caffeine boost so I went to the kitchen first to get the coffee maker going. While the coffee was brewing, I did my morning routine and gently shook Chaeyoung awake, telling her to wake the other girls up while I made breakfast.

I finished preparing our breakfast and coffee, still feeling like I was dragging my body. Chaeyoung helped set the table up after she was done getting ready and soon Jisoo joined us. We started eating and the duo were chatting endlessly as I sat in silence. Soon, Lisa entered while purposefully avoiding my gaze. This was expected but I couldn't help but feel hurt. Her aura was noticeably different and she kept her head low the entire breakfast. I sighed as I had hoped we could act normally in front of our friends. After the meal, we cleaned up and drove to school in our own cars.

I arrived with just a few minutes to spare. As I walked through the halls, people greeted me with a belated happy birthday and told me they'll see me later at the bar for a small party Jisoo and Chaeyoung insisted I have. I wasn't really in the mood to party but I can't just cancel at the last minute, even if all I wanted to do was to crawl back to bed and get my much-needed sleep. I reached our classroom, seeing the girls already in their seats.

I settled on my desk beside them just as the professor arrived. He delved immediately into the lecture but I couldn't find the strength to listen. In fact, I didn't pay attention to any of the classes which was so unlike me. I hope Chaeyoung took down notes 'cause I'd surely need them.

Lisa had subtly avoided me the entire day and I, her. I didn't know what to say to her just yet and with my sleep-deprived self, I wasn't going to make any sense anyway. After our last class, Lisa told us that she wasn't feeling well and that she wouldn't be joining us later at the bar. She didn't wait for us to protest and bolted out the door as soon as she apologized. I felt disappointed but we needed time to figure things out separately.

Jisoo, Chaeyoung, and I headed to the bar. We went inside and I immediately approached the bartender to open a tab for us. After some time, the troupe and most of our classmates arrived and got the party started. I ordered several bottles of hard liquor for all of us and Jisoo initiated a celebratory shot for my birthday. I felt slightly better as the alcohol entered my system and I was able to loosen up a bit. A couple of shots in and I was in a better mood.

I was challenged by Jisoo and Chaeyoung to a game of beer pong, which I gladly accepted. Since we were missing another player, one of our classmates volunteered to be the fourth player. We drew sticks to determine the teams and the duo were paired together. They mockingly let us go first which only brought out my competitiveness. I took a shot aiming for the center cup and it went in, guaranteeing me an extra chance to shoot. Jisoo huffed as she took the cup out. I went on to throw another shot but the ball just bounced off the rim. I passed the ball to my classmate and to the duo's dismay, she was able to shoot in four cups consecutively. The game continued on for three more rounds, the four of us getting visibly drunk as time went on. We decided to call it even when we all kept on missing our aims.
