JENNIE'S POV
It had only been a few weeks since we met Lisa but we all felt like she had always been a part of our group. Since we shared the same schedule, we spent almost every day together. We'd been spending a considerable amount of time helping Lisa catch up with the lessons she'd missed. The dance troupe had also been practicing nonstop since the international competition was nearing and having Lisa on board was definitely invaluable.
We were sitting together in the cafeteria when Jisoo suddenly caught our attention.
"Guys, how's the preparation for the dance competition coming along?"
"Oh, god, I'm so tired. We've been practicing so hard 'cause the auditions are in two days! I'm excited but I'm super nervous as well!" I said while lightly pounding on my left shoulder blade.
"But on the bright side, I think we've almost perfected our routine for the auditions. Though I could use a break," Lisa added while she mindlessly pushed her food around with her fork.
"Well, Chuseok is just around the corner! So that means you get to relax soon enough. What are your plans during the holidays?" Chaeyoung asked as she clasped her hands together. "I'm excited because my family's gonna fly here from Australia for a 2-week vacation so they were thinking of visiting our hometown," she said.
"I'm gonna be stuck with my family too, you know how much they value traditions," I replied.
"I'm going home to Gunpo. I haven't visited for a while. What about you, Lisa? Any plans?" Jisoo asked then stuffed the last bite of her food in her mouth.
"I have a few errands to run but afterwards I think I'll just chill at the loft."
I suddenly realized Lisa would be alone since her family was in Thailand. I looked over to Jisoo and I could tell she was thinking the same thing.
"You can come with me if you like. My family won't mind," Jisoo said.
"Oh, no, it's fine. Like I said, I need a break. But thanks, though. Maybe next time," Lisa replied with a small smile.
The day went on as usual and by the end of our classes, Lisa and I headed to the dance studio for the final rehearsals before the auditions. We spent nearly three hours polishing our routine when I got the attention of the troupe.
"Alright, I think that's it. We'll have tomorrow as our rest day so I hope you take that time to relax." I took a moment to look at all the members with a fond smile. "Whatever happens in the auditions, I'm proud of you guys for all the hard work you put into this routine. Though I am confident that this is one of our best routines in a long time so I know all our hard work will pay off."
I watched as some of them nodded along with childlike grins, while some guys fist-bumped each other.
I shook my head in amusement and said, "See you guys at the venue two hours before the call time, and don't forget to bring your attires."
After I dismissed the troupe, I sat down near my bag, catching my breath from our rehearsals. My chest was burning and I felt like I wasn't getting enough air. I was exhausted. Soon after, Lisa sat beside me and handed me a water bottle.
"You okay, Jennie? You look a little pale," she said with concern in her voice.
I took the water bottle from her with a smile. "Thanks. Yeah, I'm fine. Just tired since we've been practicing longer than usual. Do you wanna grab something to eat before heading home?"
"Sorry, I can't," she replied apologetically. "I have somewhere to be in a little while. Rain check?" She stood up and held out her hand to me, which I gladly took.
