Drop by drop blood fell from her fingers onto the clock. Black smoke rose up and molded into petals around the clock. The petals devoured the blood deliciously. She took a parchment from the side, dipped the glass pen in her blood, and wrote on it "find me where the heir of Selene is" and dropped it into the smoke.
With a sizzling sound, it ate up the parchment too. After a few seconds, the petals shifted into a black cloud, slowly the clouds vanished and an image of a portrait of a woman in white luminous dress shaped.
"she is dead you useless clock" the lady yelled in anger, began throwing whatever her hands could reach. " she made me like this, she deserves to be punished, she is dead" the lady murmured to herself on and on.
Footsteps were heard in the corridor and the door to her room opened and a man all dressed in black entered and kneeled down .
" did you find the book?" the lady asked in an eerily calm voice.
"My lady, please do restrain yourself. The last person who saw the book is dead so no one has any idea about its whereabouts" the man replied terrified.
"aaaaarghhh" the lady yelled in annoyance and hurled a cup at him. He bent down further and began apologizing.
"Please forgive me, my lady, I will procure it for you. please do have patience" he whimpered.
"it's enough Medea," a calm voice said. A man dressed in a long black cloak, that pursued him like a snake, walked into the room. As he walked past the lamp a huge bloody cut from his eyebrow to chin became visible, making him look ruthless and bloodthirsty. With deeply set menacing eyes.
" Jake has been beneficial for us in the past.so we should show our gratitude Medea" he continued.
Thud, something fell out of the bed and started walking towards them. It was a massive cat as large as a panther with horns on its head, two deep cavities instead of eyes as if the eyes were scooped out, strolled silently towards them, and plopped down on Medea's lap.
Jake bent further down, terrified of the people more than the beast.
"no master, I am not worthy of your gratitude. I will always be indebted to you" jake replied
"then will you sacrifice your daughter for us jake?" Medea asked maliciously, her lips curled into a cruel smile patting her cat."my lady, she is really young and will be of no use to you..please my lady not my child"
"haha" Medea laughed "if your daughter is that beloved to you, find me the book "
"yes my lady, I surely will bring you the book this time"
Jake hastily withdrew from the room crawling.
Medea raised her clock, which was lowered down till her lips. Her eyes were deep black like an abyss devoid of any kindness, huge dark circles around them, black lips lined into a cruel snicker, black snakes tattooed all over her arms."You never let me have fun with those silly humans" Medea grumbled.
"This is not where you belong Medea, you need to behave" the man replied.
"As if you can control me"
The man menacingly glared at her and she stared back with equal ferocity. At last, he severed eye contact. Moved towards the clock which was left unattended, it was still showing the same image of the women in a portrait. he extended his hands to touch it. puff, it evaporated into smoke.
Medea came and stood beside him. "She is dead yet it doesn't give me solace"
"Did you find any clues on the new heir?" The man asked.
"No Father, all of them were scattered after that incident and as the clock is still showing her image, I think no-one has yet claimed that position .moreover all of them are dead"Medea replied as if it to console herself.
"However we must be cautious, at least till we get our hands on the book " he advised. Medea nodded in approval.
" common saint let's go hunting" the beast growled in response. "bye father will see you later"
"take care Medea"
"sure will behave properly " she cried out from the hallway.
He walked out from the room slowly reminiscing the past.he took a locket from the inner pocket of his cloak .it was gold leaf-shaped with bloodstains smearing it, slowly opened it. A photo was stuck in it safely. He placed it close to his chest and started to scream in grief. He brought it in front of his face, tears fell on the locket.
The image was of the same women in the white luminous dress.
