PEARL TEARS

Light streamed onto his face. He opened his eyes slowly. The sunlight was streaking through the glass panes of the window. He felt something heavy on the left side of the bed. He turned his head in that direction. A person was fast asleep there with their head on the bed. He got up a little not to disturb her and bend forwards to get a peek of her face. He was stunned, she had all the similar features of the angel he saw in his dream yesterday. Is she the one?

He fainted when the heavy blow hit his body. Whatever transpired after was a total blur to him , his body stopped following his orders, his eyes were not ready to open, his body warmth was being replaced with chilling cold, slowly he felt the heaviness of his soul leaving his body. Was he dying? He was trapped inside his own body. What if he was buried like this and could not come out ever?

He wanted to live, he had a lot of ambitions yet to fulfill. He begged to God to let him live for once and instantly as if God had blessed him, an angel in a white luminous gown materialized in front of him. She was so beautiful, blue eyes inspecting him deep in thought. He looked at her like a helpless child.

"you don't want to die?" she queried, he nodded in reply.

"But death is a lot merciful than life my kid" she continued with pain evident in her face.

"Are you an angel? " He inquired curiously.

"More like a mother who is protecting her child" she answered. He looked confused.

"Alas, how could a child like you know the grief of a mother" she mumbled.

"Do u regret your life that much?" Aze enquired.

"More than regret, I feel pain deep inside" her eyes had filled with tears.

Tears tumbled down her face she caught it in her hand, the tears had turned into pearls. He watched her movements stunned. She extended one to him, he looked at it questioningly.

"This can take you back to life," she said. He extended his hands so fast but the angel pulled her hands back.

"But you have to promise me something," she said.

He looked suspiciously at her." what kind of promise?"

"A girl will help you out of this world, basically revive you from death. Soon you will find that she is your soulmate. Vow to me that you will protect her even if it costs your life, will stand by her side, stand through her in hardships, and look after her. If you fail to keep the promise death will succumb you at that very moment" she explained.

"That's so easy" he scoffed. "But if you had these why didn't you go back?" He added suspiciously.

"There is a choice Azarios, I chose not to go," she said.

He took the pearls and examined it closely, they were so lustrous formed into the shape of tears instead of the normal pearls. He was deep in admiring it when something stuck him. wait did she call his name? He never mentioned his name to her. He turned around to look for her but she was nowhere to be seen.

Suddenly everything started to whirl. After a few seconds, it halted. He opened his eyes a little, he was in a hospital. Was he declared dead already? someone was standing close to him, he looked at her face, it was that angel, he extended his arm and caught hold of her

'Aaaarrrrggghhh' she screamed with that he fell unconscious again.

When he opened his eyes again, he was surrounded by mom, dad, and Zem all with tears in their eyes. Each of them took turns to hug, scold, and notify him how troubled they were. So he really was dead, all this time he was searching for that girl who bought him back. She was not there.

Now here she lies calmly asleep. Her hair was falling onto her face. He slowly took the strands and kept it behind her ears. He turned to her side and watched her sleep. She looked so similar to the angel, yet so different. How could a person sleep so peacefully? Was she an angel too? why did the angel make a promise for a mere human being? Suddenly she started to move. He laid back, closed his eyes, and feigned to be asleep.

'oh, it's already 5 in the evening. Why am I sleeping too much these days?" She asked to herself
"Not as much as you may be" she added referring to him. She stood up and left the room. His heart wrenched seeing her go.why was his heart aching for a girl?maybe that was an after effect of the pearls.

She met Zem at the front. She confided to Zem everything about the letter omitting its contents. Zem said she had never kept any letter in it and none of them had. She opened her bag to return the book. It was not there. She pulled all the stuff out it was missing.she was sure she had packed it when she left home. She promised Zem that she will bring it next time and left for home.

After Ein left, Zem and Oliver walked towards the infirmary.

Aze sat up on the bed. They sat on the adjacent sofa, from their faces it was clear that they wanted an explanation. Zem raised an eyebrow questioningly. He was avoiding the topic,pretending to be sick, it was sure he cannot continue with the act anymore.

"I was at the synod, to find a book in their library. A man fully dressed in black entered the library. He definitely didn't look like one of us, I felt suspicious. he started searching frantically through the bookshelves. I followed him silently. He was so suspicious-looking back every minute to see anyone was there. I kept on watching him. He seized a book smiled in victory, looked around to see if anyone was watching him and hid the book inside his cloak and left the room"

Aze avoided their face so that they wouldn't find that he had omitted a lot of parts.

"then?" Ol poked him to continue.

"I sneakily followed him to see where he was going. Halfway I think he might have seen me tailing him. He moved into a dark abandoned shop. I followed him inside.Something like a large cat pounced on me, not of the usual kind.I felt kind of black power in it. It had no eyes just empty orbits. It started ruthlessly attacking me. It was so strong I couldn't even throw a punch back. The man was calling it back but the beast was having fun slaying its prey. At last somehow the animal vanished. Then I couldn't remember anything"

" What could have been that animal thing? And there is a book missing from the synod library?" Zem inquired.

Aze nodded.
