Chapter 26: charity and surprise

The happy couple arrives back home from their honeymoon.

Isaac opens the door but stops Liara from going inside.

Something wrong?

Without saying a word Isaac picks her up.

No, but isn't it tradition that the husband carries his wife over the threshold when they come back home for the first time after the wedding?

Liara blushes.

Lead on... hubby.

Isaac laughs and carries her inside.

Later that day after dinner Isaac's phone starts ringing. Since they're doing the dishes isaac's hands are wet so Liara picks up and puts it on speaker.

Hey Jordan, you're on speaker so behave yourself.

I have no idea what you're talking about, I'm a beacon of virtue. Anyways, how was your honeymoon?

There was a slight hiccup but overall, we had a great time.

Translation, you spent the majority of the time in bed together.

I won't confirm or deny that.

Liara jabs Isaac in the arm.

Don't encourage him!

Jordan laughs.

The reason I'm calling is because I've been working with Krista all week and I'm presenting our plans for the business expansion at the next board meeting on Friday.

That's quick. Highly motivated, are you?

Of course, it's an exciting idea!

Liara winks at Isaac.

Somehow, I feel like there is another reason... maybe a romantic one?

Do you want me to say it? Fine, I really like Krista and I want to give things a shot with her. Is that what you want to hear?!

Liara and Isaac look at each other in surprise.

Can't believe you actually said it... I guess you better nail that presentation then.

Yeah... no pressure. I thought I would let you guys know that things are moving along.

It's great news for sure, we're rooting for you.

Liara hangs up.

He really likes Krista, I thought it was just a crush.

Jordan has never really had a serious girlfriend so if he's going through all that trouble then yeah, it's safe to say that he's serious about her.

A little over a month later Liara gets a phone call early in the morning from one of her co stars from New Elements.

Isaac seemed easy to get along with, I'm happy that you found the right guy.

That's actually part of why I called you, I'm involved with a charity and part of it is visiting kids who are sick or in bad situations. And knowing you I thought you might want to join me and the rest of the elements gang to go and visit the kids in the hospital in downtown Los Angeles.
