it had been 15 hours.
15 long hours of sitting in a waiting room, doing just what it said. waiting.
the rest of the guys had shown up, and calum's parents were flying in immediately, after they saw the news reports, and answered your phone call.
you forced yourself to stay awake. if you missed something important, you would beat yourself up for it. so luckily, michael brought you a few monsters. it helped your energy levels, but not your anxiety.
"why aren't they coming out yet?" you cried, thinking only bad thoughts. calum's heart could have stopped. he could have died right in surgery, and they were trying to revive him right now.
you pushed the thought alway.
"they'll come. just be patient." crystal, michael's fiancé said, rubbing your back.
you nodded, rubbing your temples with your index fingers, "i can't loose him." you croaked out.
"he's not dead y/n." luke said, pacing back and forth. he too, had been here since you had. not sleeping a single second.
"but what if he is? what if they can't fix him? what i-"
"y/n l/n."
you stopped talking as the voice interrupted you, and you looked up with a snap, "yes?"
you quickly stood up, walking over to the doctor who had said he was performing surgery on calum when you first got here.
"calum's surgery went remarkably well. all of his bones are back in place, and he's lying in a hospital bed right now. he's breathing fine, and all of his organs are intact. he's a little rough looking though."
you nodded, "can i see him?"
he nodded, but didn't go anywhere, "there's just one thing."
"what?" you scrunched your eyebrows, thinking of whatever could possibly be the matter.
"he's in a coma."
your heart stopped. for a moment you couldn't feel a single part of your body. you could only feel the weight of sorrow on your shoulders. how could this happen?
a tear rolled down your cheek as you engulfed the closest person to you, which happened to be luke, in a hug.
"i'll show you to his room." the doctor said, and luke gradually peeled you from his torso, helping you walk with them, towards the room where calum was.
you slowly stepped inside the door, and there he was. lying peacefully on the hospital bed. the only thing he had on was boxers, since both of his legs and his torso were in casts, including one of his arms. there were bandages all over his face, and he looked rough.
"it's all my fault." you said, falling to the floor.
