Nowhere Fast: Part Two

Duncan tried to keep up with Apollonia as she tried to make a run for it, knowing that if he didn't talk to her tonight, then he might not get the opportunity again. He followed her through fire escape doors already knowing what she was doing. 

"Apollonia!" He called out from the top of the stairs hoping that she would just stop.

"Apollonia please." He said slamming the door shut as she tried to leave. 

"Just leave me alone Duncan, you said everything you needed to say that night." She said as the tears fell down her face. 

"Apollonia sweetheart please you don't understand." He said placing his hands on hers. 

"No I understood perfectly the night before our wedding when you told me that you never loved me or that the infamous Duncan Shepard could never be tied down to one girl for the rest of his life. I was ready to give up everything for you! I tried so hard to fit in your with your family despite them treating me so horribly and it still wasn't enough! So please just let me go." She said angerily through tears.

"But it was, everything you did was more than good enough for me at least. I loved you more than anything in this world Apollonia." He said. 

"Then why did you do it Dunc?"  She asked taking a seat on the stairs. 

"Honestly I was scared. I was scared that one day you would wake up and realize that you deserve someone better than me and I didn't want to risk getting hurt again, so I lied to you about how I really felt because I was so ready to start a life with you and hoped that it would work but I realize that it only ended up hurting me more, so I understand why you hate me Apollonia but just know I never meant to hurt you and that you will forever have my heart even if you decide to never speak to me again." He said sniffling a little bit. 

"I appreicate you saying that Duncan, I just wish you would've came and talk to me first because I would've told you how similar I feel, I think you deserve someone who fits into your world and who can be okay with being a housewife and be okay working." Apollonia said wiping away some of his tears. 

Duncan was about to say something when the door opened up and Bea stepped through looking at the both of them with a sad look on her face. 

"Uh sorry to intrupt but the events is ending and our car is here, unless you are planning on getting a ride home with him. " She says looking between the two of them. 

"No I wasn't, we were just finishing up here anyways." Apollonia said standing up and grabbing her stuff and making her way over to her friend. 

"Apollonia what does this mean for our future?" Duncan asked her. 

"Tell you what Duncan, if you meet me at the top of the empire state buliding friday at six then I know what you are saying is true, but if I don't see you there at 6:30 then I'm closing my heart off to you for good." Apollonia said with a smile. 

"You can't just affair to remember me Apollonia." Duncan said. 

"Watch me Shepard." She said looking at him one last time before opening the door and walking through it. 

Friday rolled around and Duncan had cleared his schedule literally the second after he got done talking with Apollonia, there was no way he was going to let Apollonia go again. About five thirty he had left his penthouse and started making his way to the Empire state building but stopped to pick up her favorite flowers first hoping that these were still here favorite. 

He walked into the building and made his way towards the elevator feeling his nerves bulid up again. What if she wasn't up there? What if she trying to get me back for what I did to her? He thought as he stepped in the elevator. 

Meanwhile, Apollonia was a nervous wreck at the top of the buliding, wondering if she made a mistake by making him meet her up or worst that he wouldn't show up. She pulled out her phone and saw that he still had twenty minutes to show up, this is gonna be a long twenty minutes she thought. 

He now had ten minutes to show up and Apollonia was really starting to become anxious which caused her to light her emergency cigratee. As she was trying to light it with shakey hands, a pair of black boots came into view which caused her to look up and nearly drop her cigrattee. 

"Holy shit, you actually came." She said shocked that she was really looking at him. 

"I did and these are for you, I hope there are still your favorite." Duncan said handing her the gerbdaisies.

"They are, thank you." She said placing them next to her before pulling him down to her so she could kiss him. 

"Thank you for coming." She said with a smile after they pulled apart. 

"I let you go once, now your stuck with me for forever now sweetheart." He says with a smile as he places another kiss on her lips.
