Rainy Days: Xavier Plympton

Dinah sat there in her bed curled under a blanket watching Nightmare on Elm Street as the rain hit her window, she was glad that Joe decided to close the store today due to weather. She was about half asleep when she heard the front door open and close followed by the sound of footsteps approaching her room. 

"You had me, worried princess, you didn't show up for class and then I went by the store and saw it was closed so I had to come to make sure you were okay." Xavier said leaning up against the doorframe. 

"Joe closed the store today because he didn't want us out in this weather and plus you're dumb if you think I was leaving my bed for the rain." Dinah said making him laugh.

"I figured as much, are you watching Nightmare On Elm Street?" He asked at the sound of Freddy's music playing. 

"I am. Do you maybe want to watch it with me?" She asked looking over at him. 

"Well, that's what I came over here for, I even picked up a few that you had mentioned you wanted to see, in hopes that you would let me stay and watch movies with you instead of kicking me straight out." He said making Dinah laugh as he climbed into the bed next to her. 

"Me? Throw you out? I would never." Dinah said with a smile as she snuggled into his side. 

The two of them sat there talking and catching up since they haven't seen each other in a few days. Dinah would never admit this to anyone especially the boy she was cuddled up to right now that she actually enjoyed doing this with him or that she was in love with him. 

"You know princess, this is actually kind of nice." Xavier said snapping her from her thoughts. 

"Really? Your enjoying this?" She said without really thinking. 

"Well I don't know if you've noticed but I did drive all the way over here in rising floodwaters just to make sure you were okay and not only that, I brought movies just so I would have an excuse to hang out with you." He said making her smile. 

"In that case, you should know that I also think this is nice. We should make it a thing." She said. 

"We should but it shouldn't be limited to rainy days, I think every Saturday or Sunday we should do this." Xavier said. 

"Okay, who are you and what have you done with Xavier?" Dinah asked making him laugh. 

"He's still here but is it a crime to want to hang out with you?" He asked her. 

The truth was that since Chet introduced Dinah to the rest of the friend group, Xavier had fallen for her and had been trying for the past three years to get her to go out with him but it never worked out. 

"I guess not. Now the real test will be if you actually remember it and not blow me off." She said making him roll his eyes. 

"Would it kill you to have some faith in me? I would never do that to you, and you know it." He said now making Dinah roll her eyes. 

"I can try to but no promises. Now, are you gonna put the next movie in, or are you leaving?" She asked him. 

"So you're trying to get rid of me? Not gonna happen, princess, you're stuck with me until the roads clear." He said climbing back into the bed after changing the movie.
