The sun was just rising when Garley awakened to Jorge gently shaking him.
"Sorry, but Uncle Johnny asked me to wake you. We're continuing on our way soon," murmured Jorge, leaving him in the tent by himself.
Garley got up, still sleepy. He felt laziness trying to take over, but then noticed there was no pain in his legs and he was able to walk normally.
As the others were gathering their belongings, Jorge called Garley for a little sword training.
"First you must learn to hold the sword," said Jorge, demonstrating how to grip the weapon.
Garley mirrored his movement, keeping the blade up. Jorge shook his head in disapproval.
"No, that isn't right. Lift it a bit more and don't extend your arm too much like that. You're also slouching in your stance a bit."
Garley made the adjustments.
"Like this?"
"Yeah, just like that! Now, attack me."
"Attack you? What if I hurt you?"
"I've been practicing for a long time. I can handle myself, don't you think?"
Garley reluctantly struck a weak blow, then he attacked again while Jorge defended himself.
"So, how am I doing?"
"For a beginner, you're doing fine. But you need to put more strength into it." Jorge blocked his blow again, making Garley stumble and almost knocking him down. "Try again."
Garley attacked him from the left, stronger this time. Once again, Jorge blocked his strike, making him lose his balance. He felt anger rising inside of him, but then he remembered that he was only practicing with his new friend.
Jorge sighed. "Come on, man, you need to put more speed and strength in the attack."
Garley closed his eyes for a moment, then swung his sword, pushing Jorge's weapon down and knocking it from his hand. Jorge stumbled.
"Excellent," said Jorge, who had now fallen on the grass. Garley was pointing his sword at him.
"Oh... sorry. I thought I wouldn't be able to beat you," he laughed. Alix, Aldrich, and Johnny applauded.
"Very good, Garley!" said Alix, smiling.
"That must have hurt, Jorge," said Johnny, making Jorge blush a little with his comment.
"I slipped and..."
"If you say so... I believe you," Johnny mocked. "Calm down. You're a great swordfighter. With enough practice, one day you'll be as good as me and Garley!"
"I'm sure I could knock you down in duel, Uncle Johnny."
"Really, now?" Johnny replied, raising one of his eyebrows.
Everyone laughed. Garley helped his friend up.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"Yes, considering who knocked me out," Jorge answered, a smile upon his face. "But you know what? You probably only beat me because the sun blinded me!"
"Sure, and because you slipped, right? I bet you'll get the best of me next time, who knows." Garley laughed. "Could you teach me the enchantments now?"
"Like this one?"
Jorge lifted his sword, which began to shine more intensely than the sun. Immediately a blue aura spread all around his blade.
