"I can't believe everything has returned to normal!" said Alix, studying the lake in front of Garley and Jorge.
The boys were sitting on the roots of a large tree in Johnny and Laura's mansion garden. It was a bright sunny day and the water reflected the sunlight.
"I can barely believe it too," agreed Jorge, watching the crystal- clear water. "Now we can visit Garley in the outside world one day."
"Yes! Sure!" said Garley, smiling.
There was something still bothering him. Now that the portal had been destroyed, it would be difficult for him to return home, at least for some time.
"I think I'll have to stay here longer than I imagined," he said, feeling gloomy.
Alix and Jorge looked at each other without saying anything.
"Well, on the west coast of Kansnubra Island, there are still some ships in good shape, kept as relics," Jorge said, raising his eyebrows.
"Well, at least I'm not trapped here forever. One day I'll be able to return home and see my family again. Now I have the opportunity to get to know the island better. Also, to train some more with the sword. I'm still not that great at it."
"Are you serious?!" said Jorge, in disbelief. "You're the best sword- fighter on the island!"
"No, I still have a lot to learn," he replied. "And I'll need that skill. The island is not free from all evil yet. Anarakman and his servants are still alive."
"You're right, Garley," said Alix, sighing.
Alix felt proud to have helped save her town and she seemed anxious for the new days to come.
The girl then did something that made Garley blush. She rested her head on his shoulder. She was so close that he could feel her warmth.
Jorge broke the silence.
"What about the award that the governor promised, huh?" he asked.
"Could it be what I'm thinking?" Garley asked in excitement. "What if the award is a trip to the outside world?" Jorge said, with
wide eyes.
Alix was excited. "That would be great. I've always dreamed of traveling on a ship and seeing all the outside of the island." She glanced at Garley. "But of course, we have to wait to know what the award will be."
Garley wanted to return home. He thought about his parents despite wishing he could think of something else. What gave him comfort now was that Kansnubra Island was no longer protected by a spell, and like all the others on it, he was free to come and go whenever he liked. The only thing he needed was a safe means of transport and a crew willing to set sail.
