"What was that?" asked Aldrich, looking around frightened, staring into the water.
"Oh, not again!" Jorge complained as he raised his sword. "This time those tentacles are going to have to deal with me!"
Jorge gripped his sword tighter than ever, just waiting to cut those nasty tentacles that would soon emerge from the water. However, the water became still once again.
Aldrich sighed, relaxing. "I bet it was only a large fish, some rare species," he said as he slowly lowered his bow.
"Or Alastor ate something that didn't sit well on his stomach," said Jorge.
They burst out in laughter.
"I did warn Alix not to let him eat alcasuz," continued Jorge, laughing.
Suddenly, something emerged from the water, a few feet behind them. It looked like a pair of horns that slowly revealed itself as it rose from the water. They were twisted but pointy and sharp at the end.
Alix, who was on the dragon's back a few feet in front of them, gave a high-pitched shriek.
What lay under the water finally revealed itself in full. It was as large as Alastor. Its black tail, twelve feet in length, rose and cracked like a whip. Its immense grayish reptile head with gigantic yellow eyes was revealed. Its mouth displayed a row of sharp and irregular teeth, which looked like hooks made for snatching and ripping its prey apart.
Alastor sped up, approached the shore and dragged the boat. Garley was frozen as he fixed his gaze on the approaching creature, which was now stretching its long serpentlike neck.
"What is it?" yelled Jorge, frightened. "We're all going to die! It's getting closer... Abandon ship, abandon ship...!"
"Don't do it, Jorge!" Aldrich barked. "If you jump, you'll be the first to die."
Aldrich fired some poisoned arrows that he had received from the savages. They hit the creature in the neck. It was a bad idea though— the creature turned towards them in blasting rage.
An appalling and nauseating breath came from its mouth as it roared. Its mouth was large enough to swallow the entire boat.
Garley lifted his sword. He was astonished and pale, now thinking that they would never overcome that beast. They had to delay it if they wanted to get out alive.
"Do something, Alastor!" Alix yelled, panting.
She was shooting blue flames arrows and the monster roared thunderously as it was hit in the face. It then stopped right beside them, looking as though it had all the time in the world to devour them.
Alastor was frightened, but he got the message. He leaned his head back and directed his flames onto the creature. The beast shrieked and drew back, submerging itself.
However, a few seconds later, the boat was ferociously hit from below. They had to hold tightly so as not to fall. Two enormous horns pierced the boat and water immediately began to flow inside.
"Damn, we're sinking!" yelled Aldrich.
Alastor's tail had let go of the boat. Once again, the creature emerged, but now there was something different. A viscous substance was running from its yellow eyes.
"The flames! Alastor's flames blinded it! It's confused!" Garley yelled, beginning to cheer up.
