In the dark of his room, the boy threw his body on the bed. Hidden under the blanket, a smile slowly blossomed on his lips as he scrolled down the chain of memes displayed on the phone screen.
He didn't know how much time passed. Not that he cared that much anymore. The next day would be like the previous day, and the day before, and the day before that... With only the slightest of changes, his days repeated themselves, leaving him to live inside of a broken tape.
As he stared at the blank ceiling, his phone left beside his bed, his eyelids began to feel heavier and heavier...
A long table in a rose maze, a stadium, a lounge, a desert, shifting rapidily into a stage, a laboratory and a castle surrounded by thorns - glimpses of places he never saw before flashed behind his shut eyes.
As the world kept spinning at the speed of light, a low growl echoed behind him. It was in that moment that he stopped in a place surrounded by ruins and broken mirrors, facing a gigantic chimerical creature. The boy pathetically tried to run away from the wave of blue flames that soon reached him.
He fell on the marble floor without a single scratch. The monster gone. the ruins replaced by a dark room with a mirror in the middle.
He got up, his legs moving on their own, like the mirror was attracting him towards it like a magnet.
He took the hand on the other side without a second thought.
"No matter what, never let go of my hand."
When he opened his eyes there was only darkness. Even though he couldn't see, he was sure he wasn't in his room.
