Jamil wondered through the forest, walking next to a gurgling stream. A distant cry caught his attention, his heart skipping a beat.
He followed the muffled cries, the leaves rustling as he dashed among the trees.
Please don't be who I think it is.
He stopped in front of a clearing. For a moment, he forgot to breathe. His eyes were wide in terror as he leaded to an oak, preventing to fall, his legs shaking terribly.
The body of who used to be a servant lied in front of him, the dried up blood staining the surrounding grass. Their arm was bent unnaturally above their head, their face disfigured, while their rib cage and stomach were ripped open.
Kalim was kneeled next to the massacred corpse, covered in blood, his clothes almost entirely thorn apart. He turned around, his eyes red for crying for so long, scratch marks spread on his entire left cheek. He too was trembling, his mind consumed by the tiredness, the guilt... the terror.
"Jamil... Ja-amil... What did I... what did I do?"
The boy ran towards him, trapping him in a suffocating hug his voice strangled as he kept sobbing: "I... I saw you transform right before my eyes... and they pulled me away from you, we ran away in the forest and... And then everything hurt... I... I became a monster and then... and then..."
Jamil gently shushed him, caressing his head. "Try to relax now. Breathe in... and out... In... and out..."
Shaking, his hand slid from the boy's pearl locks to the scars that he inflicted on his cheek.
For once, he wished he could tell him that everything was fine, that everything is over.
But he couldn't. Nothing was fine. Nothing was over.
They were both cursed to become monsters in the nights of full moon.
