All was well and the sky was dark and cloudless. A full moon shone brightly.  The clock struck one. A person was sitting on the rooftop of Westchester mansion that belonged to Charles Xavier.

You swung your legs to the melody you were humming. Sleep wouldn't come, no matter how many sheep you counted.

Quite the opposite of Charles who slipped into bed grumbling about an argument with Raven. He passed out as soon as he hit the pillow.

No matter how hard you tried, your mind always drifted off to the possibilities of what might happen tomorrow.

Bored, you made a flower out of dark matter. A pitch black rose bud, forming to bloom.

"Beautiful isn't it? " A voice broke the peaceful silence. Erik sat down next to you. "Look at it. So graceful, so harmless yet if shaped and molded into another form so deadly."

"Erik." you nodded, acknowledging his presence.

"Kate." he retorted.

Silence came back but it was nice. You put your head on his shoulder. He moved slightly so you could be more comfortable.

"Erik?" you finally said. He hummed.
"Are you going to kill Shaw tomorrow?"

His silence was his answer. "Just make sure that when you kill him it won't be out of hate and anger. Please."

He scoffed. "How? How the fuck can you ask me to do that? He murdered my mother in front of my fucking eyes. He experimented on me, made me a lab rat and put me through pain no one can imagine."

"I can." you whispered, turning to face him.

"Then you of all people should fucking understand!" he cried bitterly. His eyes were dangerously bright. "Why would you ask of such a thing?! Don't you want him dead?!"

"More than anything." you said softly. "But I've put revenge behind me and I want him dead because he deserves it. A man that evil doesn't deserve the sweet taste of life."

His lips pressed into a thin line and his eyebrows drew together. When he finally spoke it was back to its usual warm tone he used with you.

"Let's not think about tomorrow. How about we...dance?" he suggested with a small smile. You laughed at the idea. "Come on Liebling." he got up and pulled you to your feet.

You put your arms around his neck while his wrapped around your waist. He began to hum a melody though he went off key at some bits. Your ear brushed against his neck. His voice made you shiver due to the close distance.

"Today when I moved the satellite..." his voice trailed off. He swallowed and continued. "I was thinking of my mother. Charles said to think about the point between anger and serenity. But then..." he stopped again and pulled away.

His eyes were almost the same color as the moon behind him.

"You appeared, Kate. Sitting on the rock, watching the sun set. And I could moved the satellite once I saw you. You gave me faith Liebling."

His eyes glanced down from your eyes to your lips and back. You pulled away, sure that he could hear your heart pounding as loud as a taiko drum.

"Think about Charlie." You thought, reminding yourself as you played with the ring. "Think about Charles. Kate, you love Charlie. You love Charlie, not Erik. Please not Erik."

He sidestepped to your side, his arms spread out slightly.

"After that I-I was with Raven and the entire time I was with her," his voice dropped to a whisper "I wanted it to be you."

He stepped closer. His breath smelled like peppermint candy.

"E-Erik, I can't. I'm with Charles and I love him. I'm sorry." you managed to choke out. Tears had sprung up in your eyes. "I'm so sorry."

The tears slipped out. Warm calloused fingers brushed them away.

"Shh. It's okay. I shouldn't have said it that way. Actually, I shouldn't have said anything. I know I've missed my chance of you loving me back. I never stood a chance against Charles. I just wanted you to have this."

He opened his palm to reveal a small silver chain with a pendant. You picked it up. Engraved into it was a dandelion.

"Did you make this?" you asked, as you traced it with your finger

"Did you make this?" you asked, as you traced it with your finger. He nodded and passed his hand over it. The dandelion began to move, as if a gentle breeze was swaying it to and fro. You smiled. "It's beautiful Erik."

"Do you want to put it on?" he asked.

"Yes please." You handed it back to him and turned around. His hand brushed your hair away from your neck. It seemed to linger before he draped the necklace over your head and put the clasp on.

Something on the pendant caught your eye and you turned it over.

214782

Tears came back to your eyes again. You turned around and took his arm. Pushing the sleeve up, the same numbers stared back at you. You traced the numbers with your fingertips.

"Oh Erik." You whispered and raised your head to see him.

Warm lips pressed onto yours.

You couldn't move. All you could do was close your eyes. The tears that had been there spilled out.

He pulled away. His hands that were cupping your face wiped the tears away. His eyes were pained and sad.

"I had to do that. Just once." his voice broke slightly at the end.

And he walked away.

You don't know how long you were there before you went down but long afterwards when you were in bed with Charles still sleeping next to you, you could still feel the heat from Erik's body.
His hands holding your face ever so gently. The sweet taste of his kiss still tingling on your lips.

Eventually the smell of peppermint candy drifted you off to sleep.

The first truly romantic part with Erik and sadly to Erik lovers, probably the only. But don't give up hope because I'm quite sure I'll be making this a series.
