Chapter 23: Gaped Like a Fish
"We need to know how you got your whole group vaccinated against our weapon," Jong Kook added, stepping forward. "Tell us, and we will let you go back to what's left of your pathetic compound." They were lying, there's no way they'd let him go, GD knew.
"Ask your friend Mino. He seems to have been a great help to you so far," spat GD, knowing full well that Mino had no idea where the vaccines had come from.
"He says only the original BIGBANG members are aware of the vaccine's origin. By the way, it's so cute that a K-pop group is now running a post-apocalyptic unit and fighting bad guys and all that," Jae Suk laughed to himself.
Ignoring him again, GD summoned the courage to stand. The shackle around his ankle was tight and his head pounded as he forced himself up, but he needed to bring himself to their level. If he goaded Jong Kook into coming closer, he would possibly be able to swipe the gun out of his exposed holster. Fuck, TOP would be able to swipe it easily...but GD wasn't TOP.
"Bring me to Seungri and I'll consider answering your question...Or better yet, let him go and I'll talk." Once he no longer had to worry about Seungri's safety, he'd be able to focus his energy on getting out without revealing anything about the vaccines.
GD hated to admit it, but if Seungri were the one to escape and get back to the others instead of him, then he would be more useful than GD would be in planning a counter-attack. Seungri's words flashed through his head. 'You're a shitty leader, GD. You make unnecessary risks. You make too many mistakes. You let people die. I'm a hundred percent serious when I say that I've been trying to get you 'off the throne' for a long time now'
Maybe Seungri was right.
GD's thoughts of self-loathing were interrupted by a laugh from Jae Suk, who had stood up from his chair to join Jong Kook.
"Oh, GD, you're cute," Jae Suk commented as his laughter trailed off.
"You don't know, do you?" Jong Kook asked, with a similarly amused expression on his face. GD's look of confusion confirmed the answer to the question. He had no fucking clue what was going on. Jae Suk clapped happily and sat back down, content to let Jong Kook take over the exchange. What the fuck was happening right now?
"You seriously don't know? Seungri was the one who brought us to you. Who got us through the security that Mino had no access to. You're here thanks to Seungri," Jong Kook emphasized.
GD met Jong Kook's hard eyes as he mulled over his words. Logically, even knowing how hurt and angry Seungri was after he found out about his mother, he knew that it wouldn't make sense for Seungri to have helped the RMA. He would be putting his family, and theirs, at risk. A small emotional part of him, though, feared they were telling the truth. Seungri's words ran through GD's head once again and he died a little bit inside.
"Why did you have to kidnap him if he was working with you?"
"Just a precaution," Jong Kook answered, stepping forward slightly in the cramped cell. GD carefully kept himself from glancing at the gun that was beckoning to him.
"He didn't do it," GD announced when he couldn't stand their smug faces any longer. Seungri was irresponsible and hasty at times, but for him to have betrayed them like this was just too hard to believe. The lengths he would have gone to in order to pull this off... the manipulation and the sex... GD couldn't believe it.
"He did. And I'll prove it to you," promised Jong Kook, turning around towards the door. GD noted with frustration that Jong Kook was still too far away for GD to grab the damn gun.
