Chapter 7: Grassy Knoll
Seungri shoved his hands in his pocket.
He kicked a small bit of debris down the hallway, before chewing on his cheek. That last bit in the conference room was maybe too much...maybe too aggressive. He should be more careful in the future to keep his temper in check. He continued aimlessly down the hallways, letting his thoughts drift back and forth like waves in the ocean between trying to overtake the leadership and keeping everyone safe.
"ARGH!"
Seungri turned and slammed a fist against the cold wall. Why did the world have to go to shit? He loved his old life. The fame, the money, the attention....everything was perfect.
He needed air. This place, this compound...it reminded him too easily of how that life was never going to exist for him again.
He glanced around warily, before realizing he was no longer under house arrest. Seungri made his way towards the Southern exit, one that led to the grassy plain behind. The guards gave him a brief salute before opening up the gate.
As soon as he heard the locks click into place behind him, he took a huge breath in of the crisp night air, before continuing his stroll towards a small grassy knoll that lay just ahead. What he did not expect, was another figure to already be sitting there.
Seungri knit his brows together in confusion. "Ji?"
The darkened figure turned towards the sound. "Seungri?"
Seungri made his way over to the leader. "What're you doing here?"
GD sagged his shoulders. "I don't know."
Seungri examined the man for a minute, trying to figure out exactly what was going on here. After deciding there were no ill intentions to be had, Seungri took a seat beside GD.
The two of them sat together, letting the heat of the night wrap around them.
GD took in a breath before speaking. "This is probably one of the last places in South Korea not completely devastated by the meteor."
Seungri snuck a look at GD, surprised with the opening line after everything that had just transpired in the conference room. "Yeah...I guess you're right".
GD sighed. "I miss producing music," he whispered quietly.
Seungri held his breath, unsure what to say. His eventual plan was to get GD to drop his defences, but he didn't expect admissions like this.
"I miss how we used to stay up late, you guys throwing snacks at each other while I got mad, trying to finish the latest song," GD continued.
Seungri let out a quiet chuckle as he reminisced on the memory. "Yeah, and how you would pretend to get all mad at us while secretly stashing away all of the goodies to prepare your own assault".
GD snorted, leaning back and turning his gaze to the star-filled sky. "Here I was thinking I was being sneaky".
"Oh please, Ji, you being sneaky? I'm surprised you even managed to hide the intel you've been stockpiling for this long".
GD fell silent, and Seungri bit his lip in worry. He didn't want the conversation to be going back in that direction...this was the perfect time to make GD feel comfortable.
GD lolled his head to look at Seungri, before returning his gaze back to the heavens. He seemed to be struggling with what to say next.
"I didn't mean for this to happen you know. When the meteor hit and everyone pooled in the basement...I just...everyone was looking at me and I just...I thought...." GD admitted, referencing the day he assumed leadership.
