Janet

When I got out the truck, Joey called after me. "I'm going to be like five minutes away at my cousins house. Just text or call whenever you're ready."

"Okay. You aren't coming in?"

He sent me a look. "No thanks J. I already told Juliette Happy Birthday via text. It's no need for me to pop up at her party uninvited and unannounced. Have fun though."

Nodding, I continued walking and entered into the house. The music was so loud that it could be heard from blocks over and I'm surprised the police hadn't shut it down already. The house was empty and I quickly concluded that the party was more than likely in the backyard. I shut the front door behind me, heading for the back. As I travelled through the rooms, I paused when my eyes caught Kyrin's. We had both paused and I couldn't help when my eyes ran across her body from head to toe just to meet her eyes again.

The woman was beautiful— that was just a fact. A fact both of us knew. Hell I'm sure the world knew.

"Hey." I finally spoke, causing her eyes to snap back to mines, saying that she was checking me out as well.

She replied timidly. "Hey."

"Why're you sitting in here by yourself?"

"Oh uh.." She pointed over to the other couch where someone laid under a blanket with a trashcan next to their head. "I'm on make sure Ember doesn't die from alcohol poisoning duty. She's been sleep for a good 20 minutes which means any moment now she'll be waking up and unfortunately throwing up."

My face scrunched up in disgust but understanding because I was the same way. "Well have fun with that. I didn't see your car outside. I didn't know you were here."

"I couldn't find a place to park so I parked on the road."

"Ahh okay. Well that's why I didn't see it. Where's the twins?"

"With Landon. He decided they weren't coming and I'm not arguing with that man. You know those children are as much his as ours."

Chuckling, I nodded. "Yeah. I know. Juliette's outside?"
