Kyrin

My face furrowed as I called Sarah again, the call going to voicemail yet again. I mumbled. "Come on bestie, is your phone dead or something?" I tried to text her and it didn't go through and I remembered how Sarah always kept her phone charged. It also said she stopped sharing her location with me. "Oh bitch! You blocked me?"

Calling Langston, I put it on speaker phone as I continued texting her. He answered after a few rings. "Hello?"

"Uh hello, why are my calls not going through to Sarah? Her phone dead or something?"

"Nah..."

"So she blocked me? Why did she block me?"

Langston hesitated. "She blocked us both."

"Us both? What did I do? I didn't even do anything. Why did she block me?" I stood in disbelief as I checked my watch seeing I had two hours before my date with Janet. "Nah. Forget that I'm coming over. She not just gone block me like that. We finna talk about this."

"Kyrin.." He called out in a voice that made me stop walking.

"Langston, what did you do?"

"She knew. She remembered the night."

"The night? What night?"

"Deshawn mugged her. Deshawn told her that he was looking for me because I killed his brother. Then he shot her. She remembered. She saw a picture of him and remembered."

I paused. "I thought you said Deshawn was dead? I thought you said I was tripping?"

"I killed the wrong person."

"The wrong person?! How do you—?" I stopped when I noticed my room door was open and I didn't know how close Landon was to my bedroom. I closed my door and walked towards my window. "Langston, what are you saying right now?"

"I'm saying that I killed Devin."

"Chess president Devin? Deshawn's twin Devin? The nice twin? You took out the nice twin?" I asked with a low volume.

"Yes. It seems that way."

"Hold on. Hold on. So you're telling me that Deshawn is in Cali? You're telling me that I wasn't tripping after all. Damn. I knew I saw the tattoo. I knew it. I tried to tell you!"

"I know Ky. I know. I'm going to take care of it okay? I'm going to handle it."

"What are you gonna do? Huh? You gone take him out too?" He didn't answer and I shook my head. "No. No. Langston. I swear to God if we were in the same room I would put my hands on you. What's your problem? Death isn't the answer to everything and one day you're gonna answer up to all this."
