Sarah

I sat reading the article about my best friend and her wife. Scrolling through it, I knew that more than likely Kyrin needed me today. Still, I had no interest in letting this go because this was not something minor.

"Girl, what you in here thinking about?" A voice drew me out of thoughts.

Looking up at Erica, I flashed my phone screen her way

Looking up at Erica, I flashed my phone screen her way. "Kyrin."

She nodded as she picked the pillow up and sat down next to me before placing the pillow in her lap. "Warryn's going to run some errands and then pick up the kids from school so we have a couple of hours to talk alone. Let's discuss what brought you here.. without the censorship this time."

"You look pretty." I commented trying to buy myself some time. "Come through curls."

Erica smiled before flipping her hair. "Well thank you. Thank you. Now don't change subject, come on. Spit it out."

"I don't lie often and I hate being lied to. I try not to keep secrets but yet it seems every other week a new secret comes out and I'm left out in the dark about it. It frustrates me to no return and I got fed up. I'm not keeping tabs but this isn't the first and won't be the last time that I find out something I needed to know but for some reason was not told."

"And what's this something that's made you make it to your breaking point?"

I met eye contact with the woman who was like a sister. "Erica, I'm honestly not telling you for your sake and my own. I can't even repeat it."

"Oh well in that case, keep it to yourself honey but he is your husband."

"He's my boyfriend." I corrected her.

"That man is your soulmate. That man makes your whole world light up and I understand that he messed up but I need you to understand that everyone is imperfect. People have their pros and cons. Warryn gets on my nerves with the fact that he'll come straight into this house and not speak to anyone. Will just walk in and go upstairs to the shower. Girl it irks me so bad but he's just doing what he grew up doing. In his home, they weren't taught to speak when you come in a space. Ask him, I get on his nerves because I'll tune him out if I disagree with what he's saying which leads to arguments about me actually listening. It's not that I do it on purpose, but it's just my second nature. Now what's your faults?"

Taking a moment, I answered finally. "Langston hates that I can't sit still but my anxiety is always high so I feel like I have to create. He fusses on and on about it, Lord knows he does. I don't do it on purpose but I just grew up around women that didn't necessarily like moving. I saw where that got them and I want to move. With him, I honestly say the worst one is the fact that he believes all of his actions can be excused through him feeling like he did it to protect someone. The man is a man— a God fearing man but sometimes the impulsiveness that comes out of him scares me. Sometimes I'm not sure who I'm waking up next to."
