"you were sent a letter from home."

zemora black used her wand to flip the page of the book resting upon her lap. she resided in the slytherin common room alone as the others attended lunch that day. it'd been hard for the young witch to find any friends, much less acquaintances, during her time in hogwarts.

draco leaned his elbows upon the back of the chair zemora occupied, curiosity dancing across his features. "here."

the malfoy wizard laid the letter upon the open book, draco quickly taking notice of the fact that it was the spell book he'd gifted her prior to their departure to hogwarts. bellatrix hand writing seemed to grow messier the further into the book zemora found herself. her thoughts became short, blunt, and noticeably more wretched.

"go on, open it."

zemora rolled her eyes at draco's inpatient words as he found himself beside her frame within a moment. the witch easily followed draco's wish, the sight of narcissa malfoy's handwriting catching the childrens eyes.

Dear Miss Zemora Black,
It seems as though Bella's book has gone missing. Please, inform me you're not the one in possession of it. You're just a child. No child should be reading the contents of that book. One day, when you're of age, Lucius and I planned to give it as a gift. Please, write back as soon as you can. Lucius has been in a mood searching for it through our manor.

I hope all is well at Hogwarts, for not only yourself, but Draco as well. I love you both dearly.

Family above all,
Narcissa Malfoy

zemora had read the contents of the letter aloud, her words falling below a whisper as she reached the end. within a moment, zemora was on her feet with panic upon her features.

draco mirrored the look upon her face, yet neither could find the right words to say. "you can't tell them."

"they'll never believe it was just lost, dre." zemora paced the slytherin common room. "why did you give it to me in the first place?"

"because you have nothing of her's." draco whispered out vulnerably with a shake of his head. "my father keeps it all from you. i just thought—"

"i appreciate it, i truly do." zemora decided to change the route of conversation as members of the slytherin house began to flood the common room. the witch piled the letter upon her books, holding them in her arms with ease. "i've got to go."
