I didn't get very far. I stopped at the edge of the pavement and sat down before taking a deep breath, trying to calm myself as I dried my tears with my sleeve.
The live music died down, and minutes later I was joined by Luke. He sat down next to me on the pavement, rubbing my back as he apologised.
"It's not your fault," I laughed.
"Yes but I should have known that elements of that song would get to you," he sighed. "But there's a message for you in that song that I wanted you to get," he spoke as I looked up at him. The moon lit his eyes up, and once again I am breath taken by them.
"I know, I got it, that's why I had to leave," I said, looking down at the ground.
"Then what's the problem? You like me, I like you. Who's stopping us?" He asked and I shook my head.
"No one. It's just...," I paused, "what if I'm not ready?" I asked quietly, my voice breaking slightly.
He gave me a small smile, "you won't know unless we try."
I looked at him with a small, yet somewhat cheesy grin before speaking, "I don't know what it is about you. But something does seem so right. Your smile, your kiss, maybe it's just you. The you I have grown to like. The only you I have ever known, and it makes me want to try, it makes me want to forget everything that has happened, because when I'm with you, everything else is just a blur, like it's just you and I." I smiled, finally lifting a huge weight off of my chest.
Luke grinned widely before gently pulling me into a hug. We sat there for a few minutes before I decided to pull away then plant a gentle kiss on his lips.
"So, did you like your surprise?" He asked.
I nodded, "I can't believe you didn't tell me that you were in a band!" I almost squealed. "And I must say, you guys are so good," I congratulated. He bit his lip, which almost made my heart drop to my stomach.
"Thank you, and you don't mind that Ash is our drummer?" He asked nervously. I shook my head as I smiled.
"He's your friend, he won't come between us. It's you and I."
"I guess this is official, then." He sighed happily. And on that note, the rest of the band and my two eavesdropping friends came out smiling happily.
"So you're together now?" Michael asked excitedly like a huge kid. Luke and I nodded as he pulled me into his side. I looked over to Ashton who was looking between Luke and I, his eyes locked with mine and for the first time in a long time, I felt almost nothing for him. He nodded his head at me as he smiled, before walking over to Sidney.
"I think we should celebrate," Jess winked at me. I shook my head at her slowly, laughing to myself.
"Pizza and video games at my place!" Michael shouted loudly and we all groaned in sync.
"Michael, fuck sake man, video games are not a way of celebrating shit." Calum groaned.
I laughed to myself once again as Luke lowered his head to my ear, "you'll get used to it," he whispered. I smiled up at him before kissing his jaw.
"So worth it," I winked. He smirked before suggesting that we should go back into the bar.
And that's exactly what we did for the rest of the night.
