epilogue

3 years later

"You ready for this?" My aunt asked as she fixed Jess' hair.

"Ready as I'll ever be,"

"You all look so beautiful," she beamed, taking a few pictures of us while we stood together in our dresses.

"You both look so beautiful," I smiled widely. "This is crazy, I mean it just feels like yesterday we were at prom. It all went so quick," I sighed as I stared at my reflection in the long mirror. My dress was beautiful, it flowed perfectly and the detail was beautiful. My hair was loosely curled and was held to the side with a diamond hair clip.

"I hope he doesn't back out," Jess sighed, looking at me.

I smiled as I turned to her, "Jess, relax, Jacob would never do that. He loves you more than anything. You're going to go out there, in your incredible wedding dress, looking beautiful, and you're going to marry him. This is your day. Enjoy every moment and make it as special as you can." I hugged her lightly before pulling Sidney towards me. "We're going to be right there for you, supporting you all the way and wishing you all the happiness in the world." I reassured, trying not to make her cry.

"I love you guys. I couldn't have asked for better best friends, or bridesmaids." She said as we had one last group hug before making our way to the altar.

"Luke," I squealed as I hugged him. I hadn't seen him since the night before last as he was the best man for Jacob, and we were both super busy sorting the final details to the wedding.

"Hi, beautiful," Luke said quietly. "You want to dance?" He asked. I nodded as we made our way to the dance floor.

"You look so great," I spoke as we slow danced.

"Thank you, and you look perfect," he said as he looked at me. I kissed him on the lips before he decided to twirl me around.

"Don't they look great together?" I asked as I looked over to Sidney and Ashton, who were also dancing across the floor.

Luke nodded, "when did you realise that you were over him?"

"I guess I didn't actually realise it, I just remember I stopped dreaming about him, I stopped thinking about him, and I stopped wanting him, but it all happened siddenly, without me seeing it," I explained

"Why?"

"Because of you," I smiled as the song finished and we sat down.

Luke looked at me before speaking, "I love you so much," he sighed happily.

"I love you so much, too, Luke" I said. "You mean the world to me, and that time we missed out on doesn't matter anymore, the present and our future does. Only a fool would trip on what's behind them. This is our beginning, who knows what will come next but I'm sure it'll be as exciting as ever," I chuckled.

Luke smiled widely at me, "You have no idea what you've done to me, Katy Lana. But I hope you know how much I love you."

"Forever?" He asked, we laughed in sync at his at his cheesiness.

"Forever."

And so we went on with our lives.

5 Seconds of Summer became huge across the world, sure they did a lot of touring but we always made it work.

Jess and Jacob were together, and so were Sidney and Ashton.

My publishing and writing career went better than expected, and surprisingly, I had published three - almost four - books after 3 years.

I don't know where I would be right now if it wasn't for Luke. He told me once, that when I find someone, they will put all my brokem pieces back together and will replace that missing piece with the love that they give. But, little did I know that he would be the one to do so. Luke fixed me. He made me who I am today and for that, I can't thank him enough.

The one thing he did show me, though, is that love is an illusion, and that we were just two lonely souls who found our way to each other.

We think we know what love is, we think we know where it's going to lead us, but we don't. It is so unpredictable, every moment of it.

But, I think that's just the beauty of it.
