Ten had ended up at Taeyongs apartment after the fire. He couldn't think of anyone else that would accept him in no questions asked like Taeyong. Mark would of let him stay but Ten did not want to feel scrutinized by him or his roommate Donghyuck.
So there Ten was, in the dingy hallway of Taeyongs apartment. He raised his fist to knock on the door but he hesitated. What if Taeyong won't let him stay? No, its Taeyong, he should let him stay for at least a day or two. So Ten knocked on the door and waited for Taeyong to answer.
Lucas didn't approve of this, but he did not understand why Ten couldn't just stay anywhere else. Lucas may be an angel, but he doesn't know everything in the world. He never really had any human experience.
Taeyong soon answered the door and welcomed him in with open arms. Ten was grateful for Taeyong, he surprisingly had an extra room for him and said he could stay as long as he wanted. The apartment was simple, it had two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a living room that was connected to the small kitchen. Ten had even agreed to pay half the rent if he ended staying more than a month.
It was not all good, however, Taeyong was just as a party animal as Ten was. It tempted Ten to want to go out and party with him. His friend, now roommate, went out almost every night. He would then come back smelling like alcohol and pass out on the couch. Ten didn't even want to think of the fun he had at the parties he went too.
Living with Taeyong was a challenge for him. He not only had to deal with all of the temptations around him, he also had to deal with Lucas breathing down his neck every second of the day. Weeks of Lucas's eyes on him drove Ten crazy.
After Lucas had saved him from his burning house, tension has lifted. They don't bicker as often but they are still sort of awkward around each other. Ten has tried and really tried, not to snap back at him like he usually does.
Ten had a realization one night when he was alone in the apartment. Why is he acting so unpleasant towards Lucas when he is literally only there to help him? The one time a good-looking guy comes into Ten's life and tries to help him and Ten won't accept it? So Ten thought to try to appreciate Lucas more often, to be grateful towards the angel who is only trying to help.
One night when Taeyong was actually home, they were sitting in the living room watching some movie on Netflix. Ten wasn't really paying attention, he was just zoning out at the tv. He heard Taeyong shift next to him, he looked over and Taeyong was casually fishing a blunt from his pocket. Ten didn't want to tell him to stop so he kept his mouth shut.
"You want a hit?" Taeyong said with glazed-over eyes.
Ten looked at Taeyong with squinted eyes. He never told Taeyong he was quitting the drugs, nor did he ever tell him about his angel problem. He didn't mind that he was smoking in front of him but he knew that if he agreed to smoke with him he would do more things he wouldn't be proud of.
"No thanks," Ten said
"Are you sure?"
Ten looked at the blunt that was between Taeyongs fingers. He really wanted to smoke, he has been clean for about three weeks now. One blunt wouldn't completely mess him up but he would lose his streak of being sober.
Don't give in.
The voice Ten heard was Lucas. He couldn't see him but his voice infiltrated his brain. Lucas did not annoy him as much when he was trying to kill the fun. Ten had finally started appreciating the fact that Lucas is just trying to better him.
"I'm sure," Ten replied.
"Suit yourself," Tayong said taking a hit off the blunt.
Ten looked away from the latter, he really wanted a hit. He shook the thought out of his head and tried to pay attention to the movie that was still playing.
Turn around.
Ten perked up at Lucas's voice in his head. He turned around to see Lucas leaning against the wall in the kitchen. Lucas beckoned him over with the wave of his hand.
"I'll be right back," Ten said to Taeyong who was currently high as a kite.
Ten left the couch to walk towards Lucas, he had a small smile on his face. Ten raised his eyebrows as if to ask 'what'.
Lucas nodded his head to the door of the apartment. Ten got the message and opened the door to the small hallway. They were both out of the hallway and could talk openly.
"What?" Ten asked.
"Follow me," Lucas said and then turned around and made his way down the hallway.
Ten followed him through the narrow hallway until they came to the stairs. Taeyongs apartment was on the top floor of the building, these stairs led to the roof. Lucas turned around to make sure Ten was still with him.
"Its probably locked," Ten said.
Lucas only smiled at him before opening the door. Oh yea, he's magical.
The roof was big, there was nothing up there. The view, however, was amazing. There was a perfect view of the nearby city and the sounds of passing cars. It was peaceful, the sky was clear enough to see the moon and the twinkling stars.
"Why are we here?"
"I wanted to talk you, alone," Lucas stated looking at Ten. "Come on."
Lucas then laid on the rooftop waiting for Ten to do the same. Of course, Ten did the same. The weather was perfect for stargazing.
"I just wanted to say how proud I am of you," Lucas said. "You've come so far, Ten."
Ten was thankful Lucas wasn't looking directly at him. Lucas couldn't see the blush that was spreading across his face.
"Thanks," Ten weakly replied.
"I really mean it, Ten," Lucas went on. "Most people would have given in to temptation by now."
Ten didn't know how to reply to that one so he just nodded his head, knowing Lucas didn't see it.
"You are one of a kind, Ten."
Ten turned his head to Lucas who also looked at the stars. His side profile gleamed under the moonlight making the angel look ethereal.
"You really mean that?"
"Of course I do," Lucas said turning his head to look Ten in the eyes. "I wouldn't lie to you."
Ten smiled at the angel, he felt so happy in the moment. Lucas was proud of him. Ten hasn't had someone proud of him in a long time. Nothing else mattered, Ten was proud of himself as well.
Ten didn't realize that he was still looking at Lucas in the eyes. Their faces were closer than before, Ten could feel Lucas's breath on his. The last time they were this close is when Ten was on the brink of passing out. This time was way better than before, Ten was anticipating the next move.
Lucas's eyes fluttered from Ten's eyes to his lips. His breath faltered as he got even closer to him. Ten met him in the middle, their lips colliding softly. The kiss was slow but so full of passion as their lips moved against each other. Lucas held himself up by his elbow, changing the position so Ten was flat on the roof.
Just before the kiss got any more heated, Lucas pulled away to Ten's dismay. Lucas laid back down next to Ten with a dopey grin on his face. Ten was sure he had the same look on his own face.
"Were you trying to save me that time?" Ten asked with a satisfied sigh.
"No, I wasn't."
