I woke up thinking about Ash, for some unknown reason, I couldn't seem to forget him. To be honest, I was looking forward to seeing him again and finding out what was so special about the other floor, since there were two restricted ones. Although I didn't understand why there was a human in a secured room, in one of the 'forbidden floors'. There was obviously something about him that made him a subject, and that thought had me thinking about how Ash's eye colour changed into a pure gold colour.

What if he wasn't human? That wasn't possible, right?

Those thoughts stayed with me as I took a bath and changed into my clothes and when I had breakfast, which was a scrambled egg and a couple of pancakes. I wore a pale coral shirt with a black pencil skirt, that reached my knees, and paired the clothes with some black flats and left my wavy hair loose for the day.

"Lexi, hi!" Tori said as she gave me a quick side hug, "first day of proper work, eh!" I nodded

That was the other thing, over the last couple of days, we'd become good friends, but I didn't think I could tell her about Ash yet. I know we were friends, but trust isn't something that is given so easily; it's something that is earned over time. I trusted her enough to be in a friendly circle, but about Ash...now wasn't the time. Plus her uncle was Henry.

Henry gave me a bad feeling, his whole demeanour didn't settle well with me. Since the previous night, everything about him gave me bad vibes and an off feeling. Maybe it was just because of last night, or maybe it was because of the feeling that I just needed to stay clear of him. I would stay clear of him either way.

I snapped out of my thoughts and took in my surroundings, I was in the desk area of the work place, with the small caffeine station at the end of the room. I turned my head to look at Tori.

Speaking of Tori, she was staring at me expectantly, "You didn't hear what I said did you?"

"Not really..."I said sheepishly

"Listen, I know first days of working at a new job is nerve-wracking and you're probably thinking about how to make a good first impression," - I was actually thinking about how your creepy uncle gave me bad vibes - "but don't worry, none of these people -she motioned to people who were working on there computers on their desks- really talk to you that much unless it's about work. So, you'll be fine!" She gave me a pat on the back, "let's get started shall we!"

My work desk turned out to be a couple of desks away from Tori's so I was greatful. Most of the time, I worked on documents about the labs and sorted out a few bits and bobs of files. The other part of the time I spent talking to Tori, as well as finding out the names of the two people sitting at the desks between us. One was Lily and the other, was Charlie and they didn't talk much.

Tori decided that as a way to celebrate my first successful day of work, after being so 'nervous' in the morning, we should visit Danny's cafe, for a small afternoon snack. The food and drinks there were really tasty so I agreed, although the thought of seeing Danny again, sent shivers down my spine. But Tori didn't know that, so that was another reason why I agreed.

~At the cafe~

The warm and welcoming smell of coffee and melted chocolate made its way into my nose as Tori and I went inside. It was exactly the same, except there were more customers and dim fairy lights had been put up on the inside of the cafe. Everything about the cafe made me feel comfortable, from the cosy sofa chairs by the tables, to the warm smell. Then again, I didn't like the owner do that kind of spoils it.

Tori got a frappechino, whilst I stuck to my usual coffee, and this time, I bought  (well Tori bought) a few freshly made, warm cookies. They were huge for one thing and they were so soft, but crunchy at the same time, with a melted, rich chocolate that was buried in the middle, and it came oozing out when I bit into it. It was absolutely amazing, and we gobbled them up in no time.

We talked a bit, not too long, as we drank our drinks and left the snug cafe during the late afternoon, to return to our apartments in the lab.

Someone p.o.v:

"Margeret, nice to see you, although I was expecting to see you a bit later rather than sooner." He smiled in an almost fake like way

"Yes yes, how is the subject?" I questioned, keen to find out how the creature was, after all, it was my greatest subject yet

"The boy is fine. Henry did mention that he has been a bit more aggressive and violent."

Strange, I wondered, why was he being aggressive, well he was always aggressive, but what made him more violent?

"And? How's the girl?"

"Lexi? She's better than I expected to be, more well behaved, not completely idiotic like her father, but she does share his constant curiosity."

"Good..." I said

There was a loud crash that caught me off guard, making me jump slightly.

I gave a questioning look to him

A scientist came rushing in through the door, his face flustered clearly by his lack of physical activities, as well as looking as though he was in a hurry to say something, but I couldn't make it out until he finally caught his breath a bit more.

"Subject...broke out...escaped...somewhere in...the...building!" He breathed deeply, trying to get his breath back fully.

Realisation hit me as I repeated the words in my head, the subject had escaped, but was still in the building.

I grabbed the scientist by his collar, "you find that subject, NOW!"

He nodded, afraid to speak, and scurried out the way he came.

"I want that subject found Turner, find him while he is still in the building."

I straightened out my hair and clothes before storming out of the door...

Lexi p.o.v:

I was brushing my hair, when I heard a loud voice from a speaker, since when did they put speakers in the apartments?

"The building will be going on lockdown for certain important reasons. All workers proceed to your apartments. I repeat, all workers proceed to your apartments. The building will be going on lockdown now!"

Lockdown? For certain reasons? During the afternoon? What kind of reason would require the lab to go on an early lockdown?

I felt a sharp gush of wind, and then something on my shoulder. I turned around to scream, but stopped when I saw the person in front of me.

What in the world was Ash doing in my room?
