We had got to my apartment quickly after our visit in the library, but Tori left a little while later, after we discussed that Tori would come to my apartment an hour before nine, and we would sneak into the offices at night, since there would be fewer guards around the area.
There was still just over an hour left until Tori would come over, so I decided that I would have a quick bath and then read the book. I sat on my bed, after having a soothing shower, grabbing the book, eagerly ready to read it.
The front cover was a fading indigo colour, with the title 'Supernatural species' written in a fancy way, with black ink. There were a few detailed silver patterns under the title, followed by the name of the author, my dad. I opened it, realising how scruffy some of the pages were, the words were faded, although you could make out most of them. I read:
The Supernatural species - Werewolves
These creatures are believed to be a species of man, containing wolf DNA within them, making them half-man and half-wolf, as they can change from a man into a wolf. This process is also known as 'shifting'. They can transform into there wolves, whenever they summon the wolf part of themselves. However, if they are feeling extreme rage or paranoia, their wolf form will naturally take over, without being summoned, unless the person is strong enough to control it. The first shift of a werewolf is at the age of 8-10 years old.
This species have a enhanced abilities, such as:
>Sight >Smell >Hearing >Strength - strongest supernatural species >Speed
You can tell if a person is a werewolf if they have all of the above, and also the change in their eye colour at certain times. If their eye colour changes to silver, or an aqua colour, they are a werewolf. The rarer eye colour is gold; if they have eyes that change into a golden colour, this means that they are a hybrid.
Mates:
Mates are the other half of the werewolf, mostly referred to as being a soulmate. A werewolf's mate will most likely be another werewolf, however it can also be another species (human, vampire or witch) but this is very rare. Mates are people destined to be with another being. Mates will naturally fall in love almost straight away; the male mate can usually be possessive over their female mate, however a female mate, can help comfort and calm the male if the males are feeling extreme rage. You can tell if two people are mates, if there is a spark or tingly feeling when one mate touches the other, as well as if they feel a need to see one another.
Wow! Was all I could think, I wondered how much my dad studied supernaturals.
I thought back to Ash, knowing how almost all of what was written was related to him, but what was a hybrid? I had seen his eyes changing into a gold colour, but also a blood-red, so what kind of hybrid was he? And the whole 'mate' thing, sounded similar to what I felt with Ash. Maybe not love, but I felt safe and complete when I was near him. I turned the page of the book:
