Chapter 16

The room that the door opened to, was definitely smaller than the main office, but it had a decent size. There were surprisingly a few more shelves, each containing different documents and a notebook of some sort, on one side the room; on the other side, was another desk and chair. The desk had a computer on it, as well as a couple of sticky notes that said different unimportant reminders on them. 

Unfortunately, I didn't know how to hack and unlock passwords on a computer, so that was useless, however, I had a feeling that there would be something that would be of use on one of the shelves. 

I silently made my way to the shelf and searched for something of use; Tori had helped me look around for a bit, before she headed back to the main part of the office, so that she could try and find something there. The notebook was useless after all, there was nothing important in there, just a load of notes (well it was a notebook) and scribbles on the labs, just like the other documents. 

"Lexi, I think I found something!" I heard Tori whisper-yell. I rushed to where she was sat, a pile of messed papers circling her, and she held papers of her own. "Here, you read it." She said, holding the papers out to me. Confused, I took the papers from her hands, and felt a wave of eagerness and hope wash over me when I flashed my torchlight on it.

She'd found the exact thing I was looking for: Margaret's file.

Margaret Drayton is the present CEO of C.O.D.E labs, after her father, the founder and past CEO, Henry Drayton, died and left her the labs. She is the first scientist to have started the extinction of the supernatural species, and in 2010, she ordered the death of the supernatural race, which was successfully accomplished. Her experiment piece, better known as Subject A.S.H is the last of the supernatural, and her most valuable and important experiment.

It was just as I thought, her file was short and not as informative as other files I had read, but I'm sure it was written purposely in this. I couldn't say the file was as helpful as I hoped for it to be. And her father was Henry Drayton, as I had suspected, but I didn't know he was the founder.

"Where d'you find the file?" I asked Tori, I was just curious of where she'd found it because we had both searched the main part of the office and found nothing. "Umm, I found it inside one of the other documents." She replied, clearing her throat. "Right, okay."I said, slightly unsurely, which I thought she noticed, so I quickly changed the subject, "well, now that we've seen the file, let's get back to our apartments, shall we." 

"Yeah, definitely!" She quickly said, and began sorting out the pile of papers besides her, to put back into the place she found them. Still holding the file, I took a quick snapshot of the information, in case I would need it in future, and then passed it to Tori, who put them away. I headed back to the other part of the office I was searching and reorganised anything that was out of place. I caught a glimpse of a paper sticking out from the notebook on the shelf, and immediately pulled it out. 

It was...a picture. An old picture. A picture of five people standing in front of some trees and although it was blurry, I could somewhat make out the figures of the people, and their simple features, like their hair colour. There were four men standing, one was obviously Henry, the one on the left end; I could tell from the way he stood and his intimidating posture. Next to him, was most likely Levi, well Dr Turner, with his probably-the-same checkered suit that he wore when I first met him. Next to him, was...dad? I knew it was him, the way his hair was gelled smartly was exactly how I remembered it, and he had his hands in his trouser pockets, just like he always would've had when he was in a picture.
