Chloe

"Okay, Goodbye, Dad" Chloe said in a sing-song voice into the phone. "Can't wait to see you again."

Chloe hung up the phone and trudged up the huge hill to her job. In three months time, she would be back reunited with her father.

She had thankfully gotten out of her contract with her job. She had initially renewed, but now there was no need to stay.

She sighed as her chest tightened at the thought. Was this ever going to get any easier? She couldn't understand why she couldn't shake this feeling. It was like at the thought or mention of him, her heart clenched and pain rocked her to her core.

She was over the feelings. Normalcy is what she needed. Go back home to the states and be with family and friends.

Simone and her had made up the next day and Simone promised she wouldn't talk about him again with her. So there actually hadn't been much progress in that front.

She had heard everyone's side and understood everyone's opinion, but they weren't there. They didn't go through or see what she went through. They just needed to sit there and support her. Not tear her down.

Chloe felt a buzzing from her pocket and looked down to see a call from her Mom. Looks like it was time for her annual check in.

Chloe rolled her eyes and answered the phone.

"Hello?" Chloe spat out. She wasn't in the mood for this phone call.

"Chloe?" Her mother answered back. Probably wondering why her daughter was talking to her crazy.

"Hey, Mom. Listen I don't really have time right now-"

"This will only take a second." Her mom rushed out. "Please, Chloe."

Chloe sighed.

She had just reached the top of the hill and it was freezing outside. She sat down on one of the boulders in front of the school. Her mother had five minutes. Her huge puffy Korean coat saved her from most of the harsh weather.

"Listen your Dad, told me about your break up."

Chloe scoffed. Wow, way to just jump right in. She barely knew this woman, she was not about to discuss her personal life with her. Why the heck did her Dad even tell her what was happening. Why was he even still talking to her?!

"Okay. So talk." Chloe stated.

It had been months since she had broken up with Daniel. Why was she just now getting this call? Had her father just now told her what happened? Or was she just waiting for an opportune moment?

"I just found out and wanted to talk." Her mom continued. "From what your father tells me this man seems very important to you. I-I just don't want you to give up on this."

GREEEAAATTT. Now she was getting lectured by her mom. Could everyone just let it be and chill now. They are acting like they were the ones in the relationship and not her.

" I don't think you should be the one giving me any relationship advice." Chloe sneered. She could help the attitude that automatically came when she talked to her mother, and she damn sure couldn't help it when her mother was trying to be motherly. It was too little, too late for that.

There was a pause. Chloe waited and picked at her nails.

"Actually," Her mother's voice broke through the silence. "I think that I'm the perfect person to talk to you about this. Especially when it seems you are about to make the same mistake I did."
