Chloe

"I can't believe you're actually doing this!" Simone's usually soothing voice screeched into the phone.

Chloe rolled her eyes as she searched through her closet for the perfect date night outfit. Simone was almost more excited than her.

Chloe placed her cellphone on her white kitchen island and left Simone on speaker as she approached her closet once more. Her closet being conveniently located in the main walkway, just built into the wall.

"Girl, this is amazing! I'm so happy for you." Simone gushed on the other end of the line as Chloe pulled pieces out of the closet that she maybe wanted to wear.

Chloe pushed clothing back and forth in her closet searching for the perfect outfit and pulled out a white t-shirt and boyfriend jeans.

"What do you think about a white t-shirt and boyfriend jeans?" Chloe asked, looked back at her phone.

She felt like she was having deja vu of the last time she tried to pick out an outfit for her date night, but since they were already a couple, gosh, a couple. At least now, she had a better idea of what to wear.

"Ohhh, a classic. Maybe with some black boots? Or open-toe nude pumps? Yes, I love it, but give me options sis! What else do we have?"

Chloe laughed as she went back to the closet. She was giddy with anticipation, she could barely contain herself. She and Daniel had been in constant contact since they came to their agreement. Texting throughout the day and into the night. She felt like a teenager again. Even his simple "wyd" text messages seemed to make her heart race.

She even embarrassed herself at work the other day. Got caught giggling and smiling at her phone in between her classes by her Ji-Hye. Chloe shook her head at the thought. She needed to be more coy.

"Ugh, my girl is dating a whole doctor, in Koreaaaa." Simone's voice dragged out her words for emphasis. Chloe couldn't help, but laugh.

"I knowwwww" Chloe playfully dragged out her words too.

"So where are you guys going? What time are you guys going? And is he officially considered your man now? " Simone questioned her excitement at Chloe's situation was infectious.

"Umm so we are going to for dinner, nothing too extravagant. We planned it for tonight at 6pm."

"Wow so you go a lot of time then." Simone gathered, having remembered their time differences. Chloe turned back to her phone. A wave of homesickness washed over her at Simone's somber voice.

"Yeah, quite a bit actually, it's 12 pm here, but I wanted to get your opinion on my outfits." Chloe pepped her voice up, hoping to cheer her friend up.

It wasn't easy for either of them to go through life changes and milestones without the other one physically present. Simone had actually just gotten a promotion at her job, and Chloe couldn't be there to have drinks with her. She sighed, remember this is only for one year.

"Ahh, gotcha." Simone's voice cheered up a bit as Chloe straightened her back and turned back to her closet. "Also you never answered my last question Chlo, is this man now considered 'bae'?"

Bae. Chloe paused. The word tossed and turned over her tongue as she accepted it as her truth. She smiled.

"Yeah, he's bae." Chloe couldn't keep the smugness out of her voice.

"Okay, siss. I see you!" Simone congratulated her in true black women camaraderie. "So what are our other date night options?"

Chloe's fingers filtered over different things and landed on a red dress.
