"oh jordan, you've gained some." aurelia jones said to her daughter as the met up for the first time in months.
"thanks mother, that's exactly what i wanted to hear." jordan said back and aurelias claws dig into jordan's arm.
jordan managed not to give her signature eye roll and looked around, noticing some parents had come, including amos diggory.
"oh look mother, mister diggory is here." jordan said, nodding to the older man with his son.
"ah yes, amos!" she said, releasing her viper grip from jordan's arm and dragging the girl over to see one of her oldest friends.
"amos! it's been a while!" aurelia said, giving the man a hug l, then cedric.
"hello missus jones." cedric said, being polite even though he knew the struggles jordan had with her.
"excited? i heard this task is supposed to be heart stopping." aurelia said, clasping her hands together and cedric nodded, swallowing greatly.
"yes ma'am, i hope i can take the glory and make my family proud." he told the older version of jordan who patted his cheeks.
"it's a shame you weren't a slytherin. you would've made a suitable match for jordan." she said and jordan shook her head, mouthing sorry to the pair.
the two adults talked for a couple minutes and the pit of despair grew within jordan, the feeling something bad was going to happen.
"cedric." she said suddenly, grabbing his attention.
"jordan?"
she inhaled deeply, "please, if you see something bass going to happen, run, come back to me. please." she said, tears bringing her eyes and he nodded, wrapping her in a great hug.
"i will always come back to you jonesie, you don't need to worry about me. i'll be with you always." he muttered soothingly and she let a few tears escape.
"champions, please head to the pitch!" dumbledore said and cedric gave jordan a kiss on the cheek.
"always, remember jordan, always." he said finally before leaving with his dad.
aurelia cast her a quizzical glare before taking her daughter over to the malfoys and their friends.
"aurelia." narcissia said warmly, hugging the woman and placing kissed on either cheek, aurelia doing the same while jordan shook lucius malfoys hand.
there were introductions around before everyone headed to the pitch, the lovely quidditch pitch now destroyed by an endless maze.
"daph, i don't know what i'll do if something happens to him." jordan whispered to daphne, the two walking behind their mothers.
"nothings going to happen jordan, he's going to be fine. they all are." she said and the dark haired girl sighed, wishing she could trust her friend.
everyone took their seats and the band started playing, everyone cheering for someone.
jordan noticed how lucius was watching the durmstrang headmaster before dumbledore started making his speech about the maze.
jordan could barely hear half of it, she was too busy watching cedric and being nervous for him.
he sent her multiple reassuring smiles before the canon blew and they were off.
after an hour, the men excused themselves, saying there was business to take care of and the pit in jordan's gut grew even more.
"daphne i can't take it, somethings going to happen." she cried frustrated, almost on the verge of tears.
"jordan, they're fine. they're all fine." she told her friend, but it was more like she was reassuring herself than jordan.
"don't worry jordan, your hufflepuff will be okay." jackie said, munching on some popcorn.
there was a red flare shot into the air and jordan gasped, hoping it was cedric and he was coming back, but it was just fleur.
jordan wanted to bite on her nails but her mother was right there, so she refrained, watching the maze for any sort of movement.
viktor krum came through, making his school whisper and almost boo. now it was just cedric and harry.
another hour goes by before the gut feeling became unbareable.
then there was a crack.
it was cedric and harry, but something was wrong and jordan ran out of the stands to the field, almost in tears.
"no!" she heard harry cry and she sprinted over, pushing past teachers and the other champions to see her best friend.
but she already knew. she knew from the moment she heard the crack.
"cedric!" she cried, lunging for his body, tears pouring down her face.
"no! no no no! cedric! you promise me! you told me always!" she yelled at the unmoving body.
she collapsed on the ground next to her dead best friend, crying out for him to come back.
"my boy! that's my boy!" amos shouted, in tears as he tried getting close to him, only to be held back by professors.
shawn and cody came over, holding jordan up and squishing her in a hug as she cried.
she didn't stop for five days.
she didn't sleep and didn't eat, all she could think about was his stormy grey eyes sparkling as he smiled at her or his wood fire smell at his hugs.
her mind was filled with memories.
she barely spoke, not talking to her friends, only to thank daphne or jackie for bringing her food.
she was completely broken.
when it came the day for dumbledores address, she dressed in her best robes, hugging a picture of her and cedric at the world cup the past summer to her chest the entire time.
her friend obviously escorted her down, not pushing the girl to talk or even look at them.
she saw cody and shawn, both their eyes were red and puffy, not like jordan's were much better.
dumbledore began his address, barely mentioning cedric, making jordan livid.
"voldemort is back." he finished and there was a collective gasp through the great hall.
"excuse me! but the dark lord has risen before! why should he be prioritized over the loss of a student? a student who willingly took part in your little contest, a contest completely rigged for harry bloody potter! again! you have said but one sentence about the death of a well loved, well respected, bright, and respectable student! the shame i feel to be you, make the main concern not the rise of a dark wizard, but the loss of a loved student!" jordan shouted at the man before turning and making an exit, tears streaming down her face.
she heard murmuring as she left, but she didn't care. she was positively angry that the best thing in her life was taken from her, and not one teacher in the school seemed to care.
she marched out, walking until she reached cedrics favorite courtyard.
she looked at his bench before flinging herself onto it and breaking down in tears.
tears only for cedric.
