soon, the second challenge came around.
the morning of the challenge, jordan was rushing to get ready.
"jj! come on!" jackie yelled as she was getting her jacket and hat on.
"relax! i'm here!" jordan called back, running past the two girls, pulling her jacket on.
the three giggled as they headed out, running into malfoy and pansy.
"hey malfoy." jordan said, jackie smirking at pansy who blushed and looked away.
daphne noticed this and giggled.
"jones, see you at the lake." he said cooly and she grinned, stepping near him.
"will you? i mean, you've been avoiding me since christmas. scared malfoy?" she teased, looking up at him with a smirk.
he just rolled his eyes and she giggled, heading out the door with daphne and jackie.
"don't think i didn't see you eying pansy jackie." daphne said once they got a safe distance away from the common room.
jackie just shrugged and smiled. "maybe she's more like us than we realize." she told them and the two girls looked at each other with their eyebrows raised.
"anyways, i think cedric's going to do well." jordan said, sparking a whole new conversation.
the girls chatted as they came closer to the boats to take them to the platforms.
"oh! miss jones!" minerva called, making jordan sigh and turn around with a smile on her face.
"minnie! long time no see!" she said, making the girls giggle.
"hey, we'll meet you at the platforms. don't be long." daphne said, linking arms with jackie and heading down to the boats while jordan waited for minerva, hagrid behind her.
"miss jones, i would like to apologise for this." minerva said as her and the half-giant got closer.
"for what?" jordan asked nervously, looking around for any other students but there were none.
she felt magic wash over her and soon found herself asleep.
it was a while before she could start to feel things, but was still unconscious.
"why am i so cold?" she asked herself once she felt the prickles of the coldness against her skin, feeling like ice was poking her.
it was all she could think of until she started to hear music voices and hissing.
"what the hell?" she wondered and then felt bitter cold across her face and she could open her eyes and take a deep breath in.
"jordan!" cedric said, holding her as he tried to swim.
"ced? what the hell is going on?" she asked, swimming herself towards the ladder into the water.
"you were my task jj." he said, swimming behind her.
"me? why?" she asked as she pulled herself up the ladder, helping cedric.
"because you were his trophy miss jones." dumbledore said, handing them towels.
"sorry sir, but i'm a human being, not a trophy." she told him and cedric enveloped her in a big hug, making her smile.
"i'm so happy you're safe though jonesie. trophy or not you're my best friend." he told her, making her blush deeply.
they stayed like that for a minute, taking in each others heat and trying to get warm.
"jordan! thank god!" jackie said, running over and hugging the both of them, daphne and the hufflepuff boys close behind her.
they all hugged before cedric started laughing.
"the big three, jordan, jackie, and daphne. never thought we'd be here." he said, making the girls all laugh.
"me too ceddy, but here we are." jackie said, patting his shoulder.
"well, i think it's great." shawn said while cody nodded along.
"yeah, we've missed you jj. it's been rough without you." cody told her, making her blush a little.
just as jordan was going to open her mouth to say something, krum popped out of the water with hermione granger, the french girl not far behind empty handed.
"where's harry?" cedric mumbled, looking out over the water, jordan under his arm.
just as everyone was giving up hope, a ginger and a blonde girl came to the surface.
everyone rushed over on the pad, including jordan and cedric.
"he's down there!" ron said, swimming with fleurs little sister.
harry flew out of the water and onto the platform, making everyone cheer.
jordan herself let out a few claps before hugging cedric.
"you're doing a great job in the tournament ced." she muttered and he smiled.
"that means a lot from you jordan. thank you." he smiled and she nodded, looking back into the crowd and catching the sight of a blonde haired boy.
"oh no." she mumbled, pushing away from cedric and running into the crowd to find him.
"draco! draco malfoy stop!" she called as he was getting into a boat by himself.
he looked back before getting in. a bad mistake because jordan jumped in the boat as it was departing, leaving the two of them.
"back with your hufflepuffs?" he sneered at her and she rolled her eyes.
"cedric was here to help me through these years after my brother died. if you want to judge me fine, but leave him out of it." she hissed and his face softened.
"i remember that." he muttered and she nodded.
"yeah how do you think i feel? i have to live with the knowledge and the truth the profit wouldn't release. nobody bloody know malfoy and cedric, he helped me. he became my brother. so don't you dare judge him or wish ill on him or i will curse you so fast." she threatened and he nodded.
"i'm sorry."
jordan blinked in surprise. "what?"
"i'm sorry, i jumped to conclusions." he murmured and she looked past him to the water.
"yeah you did. but i accept your apology. please be kind to him. he's a good person." she told him and draco looked at her, his eyes cold.
"since when did you decide what my actions are?"
"malfoy, that's not what i meant. you know this. but you're right, besides it's not as if we're dating and i can tell you what to do." she teased and draco rolled his eyes, his mouth twitching.
"you're right, we aren't dating. all the better for me." he said, jumping out as the boat reached the dock, leaving jordan giggling in the boat.
"oh malfoy."
