"oh jordan, where are you going?" aurelia asked her daughter as she slid on some sneakers and grabbed her broom.

"i was thinking i could go into the village and stop at the food market, get some fresh fruits and vegetables, make some dinner tonight and give the elf's a break." she explained and her mother laughed.

"alright, just be back before supper time." she said and jordan nodded, grabbing a basket and her broom.

she got outside and mounted her broom, flying quickly to the village, savoring the feel of the fresh summer air and sun on her face.

she touched down and some witches and wizards were staring at her in shock.

the jones almost never went into the village, letting the house elf's do the shopping most of the time.

"that's jordan jones." she heard people whisper and she sighed.

"i heard jerald jones is in azkaban because he's a death eater." someone muttered to their friend and jordan rolled her eyes.

she walked leisurely to the open aired market and starting looking through the stalls for interesting fruits and vegetables.

"can i help you ma'am?" a boy her age asked, coming up to her with a playful smile.

she looked at him then to all the other vendors who were too scared to go talk to her.

"um yeah actually, can i get two cucumbers, three tomatoes, a thing of cabbage, some turnips and some radishes." she asked and he smiled at her, gathering everything and handing it to her.

they walked over to the register and jordan fumbles with her coin purse making him smile.

"that's two galleons and three knuts." he told her and she got out the coins, handing them to him.

"here you go." she said and he handed the veggies to her.

"have a nice day jordan." he said and she paused.

"i'm sorry, you look familiar, do you go to hogwarts?" she asked him and he nods.

"yeah, year above you in hufflepuff." he said and her face fell.

"oh." is all she could muster out.

"yeah, i'm sorry. i think it was really brave how you stood up to dumbledore about him, how the head of the school didn't actually bring up cedric. and i'm sorry." he said and jordan's eyes watered.

"it's going to get better. i'm really hoping it's going to get better." she said with a sad smile.

"me too, i'm riley jenkins." he said holding out his hand and she took it, shaking it.

"nice to meet you. are you working here all summer?" she asked as they walked around, looking around at the food.

"unfortunately yes, just because i'm trying to save up to buy my own quidditch gear this year and not have to ask my parents for money." he told jordan with a laugh.

"yeah, i was thinking about trying out for the slytherin team last year then you know, and i don't think i try this year. too painful." she told him and he nodded.

"very understandable, if you ever want to try and play though i think you could do it." he said and jordan smiled a little.

"thank you that means a lot." she grinned.

riley and jordan walked for a little bit, jordan buying produce and riley chatting with her about the past school year and everything.

"i remember that boy you were rumored to be dating, seamus, he was hexed really bad. do you know what happened?" he asked with a teasing grin and jordan shrugged, looking at some strawberries.

"maybe, maybe not." she shrugged.

"i heard there was a bet going on, see if he could actually pull you." riley said and she nodded.

"it was awful, so yes, maybe i did say something's i'm not proud of, maybe i have him a couple hexes, but he's alive right?" she asked and he laughed.

"it couldn't all be bad? what did you say to him?" he asked and she shrugged, a slight embarrassment blush dusting her cheeks.

"i called him a half-blood." she mumbled and riley laughed.

"that's not too bad jones, i've heard people say much worse and i've definitely said much worse. my family was very surprised i'm in hufflepuff, they're all slytherins." he said and she nods.

"at least you didn't get disowned." she shrugged and he laughed.

"very true. anyways, it's getting dark, do you need me to walk you back?" he asked and jordan shook her head.

"no, i rode here." she walking to a bush and getting her broom out from it, showing it to the boy.

"oh that's cool. um, do you want to come swim in the lake later this week with my friends and i? you don't have to but it would be cool. and we're all pure-bloods so you're mom would be okay with it." he asked and jordan smiled, a really big smile she didn't even have to fake.

"i would actually love that, thank you. owl me." she said, mounting her broom and flying off.

she smiled as she flew, feeling like she was going to finally be accepted.

when she got home, she smiled, then heard voices through the manor.

"mother i'm back!"
