Fuck! How can I be so reckless and oblivious?

Miss. Walker called a few minutes ago and bashed me about how unreliable I was. I failed to send her the file she gave me which was supposed to be signed by Mr. Longwood and it completely vanished from my mind.

To my luck, he will be leaving for Australia in two hours. I quickly picked up the grey colored file shoving it into my bag and marched out.

I hailed a cab and started my journey towards his mansion twiddling my fingers while constantly glancing at my wristwatch.

I enter his massive mansion after the guards verified my identity, one of the house help chaperoned me inside.

His house was a masterpiece of modern architecture that I could only dream of with a beautiful luscious green garden spread as far as I could observe.

The person led to a room which was slightly ajar after which he left, I peek in before entering.

It was a gaming room and I could see Ian's muscular and broad shoulder hunched towards the blue billiards table completely involved in his game.

He held the cue stick aiming at his target.

The entire surrounding was dead silent like a deep dark ocean, I couldn't help but give my full attention to him.

I narrowed my eyed bitting my lips as he did a few pre strokes before hitting the white cue ball in a split second.

"Bullseye!" I whisper-yell in excitement breaking the silence as he pocketed both the balls in one go.

This caught his attention as he turned towards me, placing the cue stick next to him, leaning on the table with his hands crossed with a deadpan look on his face.

I slap my mouth shut looking anywhere but him.

Stop embarrassing yourself in front of him, you idiot! I scold myself.

"You for once should stop with your obsession to sneak around like a curious kitten, Miss. Ashton." He mocked me sarcastically with the corner of his lips curled up.

I fist my palms together, "Okay," was the only word that came out.

"Care to explain the reason you had to knock at my door?"

"Oh, I forgot to get one of the documents signed from you," I let out everything in one breath.

"How do you expect me to understand if you speak everything in one go?" He answered back infuriated with my behavior.

Pulling out the file from my bag, I walk towards him and explained everything, he went through it before attaching me with a glare.

"Follow me," He said, walking out and I go after him like a lost puppy through series of foyer and then down the floating staircase before reaching the ground floor.

He halts in front of a door which I'm assuming is his study, and I was right. His study was the replica of one at his office.

He ambled towards the head chair and flung the file forcefully on the mahogany table.

I took my time to notice him while he was reading the document.

Something was off, his skin was pale with light bags under his eyes, he looked so tired and exhausted.

Oh my goodness, is he ill? How can he travel in this state?

After having an internal argument and giving myself some pep talk, I walked towards him.
