Chapter 19

Nick...

I woke up that next morning on cloud nine. Last night was one of the best nights of my life so far especially since Riya told me she was falling in love with me I came home happy as hell humming and everything and when I woke up this morning it didnt stop it. I was sitting at the table eating a light breakfast and drinking some water I humming eating my fruit when my phone vibrated I looked and seen coach calling so I swallowed what I was eating before answering "Hey coach whats up" I asked he sighed "Do you think you can come to the gym in about ten minutes" I nodded like he could see me "Fasho" he said ok and hung up. "Alright pops I'm bout to head out coach want me there early" I announced as I passed the living room "Ok champ dont work to hard" I saluted grabbed my hoodie duffle bag and left.

I pulled up to the gym close to ten minutes later. I parked got out locked my car and made my way inside the gym. I went straight to the coachs office I knocked on the door five times and waited til I heard him say come in before opening the door and walking in. "Have a seat" he said motioning to the chair across from him I sat before speaking up "So whats up coach you wanted me to come early" he nodded and sighed clearing his throat he leaned on the desk "Um I dont know how to say this so I'm just going to be honest I cant play you in the play offs" I looked at him confused "What you mean coach why not" he shook his head "Your drug test came back positive for performance enhancers" "W-What" I asked with tears in my eyes he nodded "That-That cant be coach you know I dont do drugs" he clasped his hands together "I'm sorry Nick" I got up livid with tears running down my face "Test me again man...test me again I swear it got to be a mistake" he sat back like he was thinking "Alright I'll test you now" he gave me a cup and I grabbed my water drinking some before going to the bathroom.

After waititng fifteen minutes coach had me come back into his office and he sat down and so did I when he shook his head I knew it was bad. "I'm sorry Nick but you failed again" I hrew frustrated and kicked the desk "Fuck man this cant be hiw the fuck is this happening" he shrugged "I don't know but I have to bench you I'm sorry" I cried and wiped my face "Can you tell me what it's called" he looked at the paper "Met Max" I shook my head I didnt what that shit was but right now it was costing me not only playing ball now but also my future in ball I got up with a red face and tears on my cheeks I ran out the gym and straight to my truck I needed to get to talk to the one person that could comfort me and fast. Soon as I got in my truck I pulled out my phone it rang a few times before they picked up "Where you at" I asked starting my car up "Meet me at my place please I need you bad" they said ok and I hung up. I know it wasnt safe for me to be going as fast as I wad but I needed to get home.

I pulled up to my house in five minutes flat but now my moms car was here so I parked on the street since she was in the driveway. I hopped out closed the door and hit the pad lock before jogging up to the door. After unlocking the door I walked in I heard my mom in the kitchen and my dad was still on the couch "Wow that was quick" he said noticing I was standing there I looked at him and didnt say nothing "Whats up Nick" he asked fully turning to me I nodded my head nothing and walked off once I got to my room I just paced back and forth I just didnt know how to feel about everything going on. I grew tired of pacing and ended up sliding the wall next to the door crying. Next thing I know my room door was being opened and the familiar smell of vanilla hit my nose I looked up at her as she looked down on me with a concerned facial expression "Butter cup talk to me" she said getting on her knees in front of me "My life is over Ri" I cried and she sat all the way down "Woah woah calm down Nick and tell me what your talking about" I put my head back on the wall "My drug test...it came back positive for muscle enhancers" "What I know you ain't been taking drugs" she asked I shook my head "No man you know me better than that I dont know how that got in my system" she grabbed my face "Did you ask about retaking it" I nodded "Yea and I failed" she shook her head "I dont understand how this can be happening" I shrugged and put my head down I just couldnt believe I was losing my future before it even started.

Later That Day....

Riya....

Me and Nick were now in our hide out just chilling she told her dad what happened and he said it was ok to come here. Our hide out was a studio apartment her dad is renting he has it for when he wants to get away ever since him and Ms. Karen been getting into it he decided it would be a good idea to have his own space for when the arguments got real bad. I could tell my baby was hurting not just because she was crying but also because we had been here for over an hour and she still had on her hoodie and hat. "Babe are you hungry" I asked she shook her head no and I sighed got up and grabbed my keys "I'm going to pick up some chinese food I'll be back" all she did was throw her hand up I shook my head and grabbed my coat and purse before walking out. I pulled up to the chinese place like fifteen minutes later got out locked my car and went inside I ended up ordering a family size sesame chicken and a family size shrimp fried rice with crab raegoons and a two liter pepsi. I went back to the apartment and ate I even forced Nick to eat after staying there for another hour and a half we left because she wanted to go back home.

When I pulled up to the house she unbuckled her seat belt and was about to get out but I stopped her "You want me to stay the night" she shook her head no so I just sat back and let her leave. One thing I learned about someone being upset is that you cant make them do something they don't want even if you are the person they claim to love. Once she was in the house I put my care in drive and pulled off I just hoped that she wouldnt do anything crazy. But I also couldnt help but to think of how the drugs got in her system.
