Wearing a white spaghetti strapped long gown, I can feel the cold breeze of the night even if we were inside the car. I was looking outside, awkwardly silent because Mommy was beside me.

I'm not used to breathe the same air with her. Palagi siyang wala at palagi kaming nag-aaway kaya hindi ako kumportable sa kanya.

"I expect you to be a girl with manners, Lois," aniya.

I clenched my jaw, offended of what she just said. Hindi na ako nagsalita pa at tumingin na lamang sa labas. Pagdating sa Orphanage, kaagad kaming binati ng mga kakilala at ng mga staff.

There's a lot of people. I can sense some people looking at me. Nakasunod lamang ako kay Mommy papunta sa function hall.

"Wow, she's so beautiful," rinig ko.

"Ang ganda naman ng anak ni Ma'am Jeanny."

"Who is she?"

"She donated here the other week."

Nakatingin lamang ako sa daan at hindi na sila tinapunan pa ng tingin. That's right. Compliment me more. Dala ko lang naman ang kagandahang hindi nakakasawa.

The hall was crowded with big personalities. Karamihan ay mga sponsors at mga politician. I prepared myself to be bored tonight.

Hindi naman talaga ako sasama at nag-away pa nga kami. Pero in the end, ginawa ko nalang din. Mas mabuti ring napapaligiran ng mga taong hindi ko kilala kesa mag-isa sa bahay.

I was being introduced to a lot of business partners. Panay tango lang ako, hindi man lang ngumingiti o nagbibigay ng respeto. Mommy was intently looking at me, gesturing me to be kind.

As if.

Pasalamat nga siya hindi ko sila binabara o minumura. I'm at my kindest state.

Iniwan ko si Mommy na may kausap para kumuha ng champagne. Beside the table, I saw Jimson Navarro Jr. who looked stunning in his black formal suit with his hair perfectly gelled to its place. He's holding his champagne flute.

"Oh, hi Lois," aniya.

Tumango ako. I was somehow thankful to have a known person here. Like me, parang nababagot din siya.

His father is a known actor, maybe that's why he's here. Napabaling tuloy ako sa paligid, may hinahanap kahit hindi naman sigurado.

But it's impossible that he'll be here.

Kumuha ako ng flute at tumayo sa gilid niya. I initiated a toast which he accepted.

"Mabuti nalang at may kakilala ako rito," aniya.

"Same," I replied and drank some champagne.

"You actually look stunning tonight, Lois."

I flipped my hair with attitude. "I know right."

Tumawa lamang siya. Nakita ko na may nakiki-tsismis. Some were also looking at us. Of course, we were head turners. Just by standing at each other, we radiate elegance and beauty.

"Baka ma-issue tayo nito. The paparazzi must have an eye towards us right now," I said.

Bukod sa ama niya, he's also open to showbiz. Naging child star siya noon at ngayon ay nag-aaral sa UP. Still, the public haven't let their eyes off of him.

He smirked. "Hindi naman siguro."

I looked at him. "Well, if you'll be issued to me, you should be thankful."
