Chapter 20
Renew
"Ma'am, everything is ready. When we will arrive, we'll go directly at the backstage for a run check," my assistant, Maggie, a half Filipina, said.
I only nodded. When the car stopped, I wore my black and gold sunglasses that's been personalized with my name carved on its sides.
The car window was tinted so I can see the wild reporters outside. They were a lot. I also saw few personalities on the red carpet.
I could sense Maggie being so nervous beside me. Her big glasses made her looked so nerdy. She's been my assistant for years now.
"Relax, Maggie. Calmez-vous. It's just Paris Fashion Week," I said and rolled my eyes.
"Y-Yeah. It's just Paris Fashion Week," she said.
When we were given way, I went outside the car and welcomed the reporters and their flashes. Maggie was behind me, holding her iPad and her bag.
"Oh, it's Lois Fausto."
"She's here."
"Wow, she's stunning."
I did not responded at them. I just walked on the red carpet and stopped to pause. They started to capture some photos.
I greeted a few personalities. Most of them are models and co-designers for today's fashion show.
"Ms. Lois, can we interview you for a sec?" an American guy asked. He's holding a mic with a label from a known news station.
Behind him, there's a camera man. Later on, a lot of microphones have been pointing to me.
"Oui, bien sur," I said, approaching them with a small smile.
Good thing, I have my glasses on, or else I would be blined by their endless flash.
The American guy smiled at me. "Wow, you look so dashing today."
"Yeah," I replied.
"How does it feel to be one of the chosen designers for tonight's Fashion Week? Come to think of it, it's one of the prestigious Fashion show in the planet."
I chuckled. "I'm grateful. I did not expect it, but I'm happy to showcase my new and exclusive designs."
"You've been staying here for four years, right?"
"It's actually six years already. Paris has become my home."
"Wow," he said and nodded. "And you studied here, too. That's fabulous. Your dress is also fabulous."
I giggled and turned around. Good thing they noticed it. The black long dress was a tube neckline and has a deep slit, showcasing my right legs.
"I designed it, too. It's a fabric from Africa, and you'll see more when you'll see the runway," I said.
"We'll look forward to it, Ms. Lois. Thank you so much."
"Yeah, thank you, too," I replied and made my way towards the hall.
"That interview was good," Maggie said.
"Ugh, I hate interviews," I honestly said. She only chuckled.
At the backstage, I can see the models wearing my designs. They were getting ready for the runway. I spotted famous models and greeted them.
There were interviews again, so I have no choice to answer it. After the preparations, I was told to go to my seat.
The hall was filled with big personalities. I was greeted by many, making my head ache. Finally, when I sat down, together with my team, I had my peace.
